River Oaks Jeep

Anyone have any experiences, recommendations, or warnings about River Oaks Jeep in Houston? We are working with them now and will be doing the financing dance on Monday.

I was referred to Clear Lake Jeep but they didn't seem too interested in helping us get the Jeep we wanted. River Oaks volunteered to change hard/soft tops and tires from one Jeep to the other so that we got the package we wanted and the color we wanted.

Initial impressions are good, I'm just wondering if anyone has first hand experiences to share.

Thanks.

My sister bought her Patriot from them a couple years ago. She wanted a sunroof, but did not want to pay the crazy upgrade cost to get the highest package (whatever it was) that included one.
They sent out the one she wanted and had a sunroof put in for her. It was only a $1500 add-on charge vs. the $4000 package cost.

I have no experience with them, but they treated my sister well, and that's good in my book.

Make damn sure that you have ALL of the tire-changing tools! I discovered on my last trip back from Ohio last month that I'm missing maybe one part that is supposed to be the handle or something that turns the jack turn shaft (thing that raises/lowers the jack). I had to do it with a 10-inch-long box wrench, and changing the tire took me 45 minutes for that reason.

AND, make sure that you get on paper any prep work you agree to doing prior to the sale. I had asked for all the fluids to be changed (I thought you were supposed to), but they didn't.

Otherwise, one of the guys in the service shop is really nice and willing to help you out with questions you might have.

We went to Gulf Gate Jeep first, and when we stood nearly in front of a 2012 and the non-English speaking sales person insisted she didn't have any 2012's, I had to leave. We tried Clear Lake Jeep, but they didn't seem too interested in selling something other than the small tired basic model that they had two of, and weren't willing to budge on anything like tinted zips.

So far River Oaks has gone above and beyond in order to be accommodating. They are clean on the other side of town from us, so I hope they continue to be worth the effort to get there.

That's good to hear about their service department. I can change my own oil but for warranty purposes I always take my vehicles to the selling dealership when possible. When I have a good experience I'm very loyal to my dealership. I made $500 off of Kia referrals when I bought my Soul.

What about the Helfman Dodge on I-10? They're owned by the same family, just a different location. I have gone there until my warranty expired last month.

Hellman in Katy is a good hour for us I'm sure. If River Oaks doesn't have the color I want in a 2012 I'll see if they can find one at the Katy location.

Please understand that Helfman and Hellman are two different locations. Helfman is near Loop 610, to the west of that interchange at Silber Rd.

Typo. Fat fingers and an iPad. Yes Helfman in Katy and Helfman River Oaks are the same family, or so I thought.

Overall, I had a GREAT experience with them. There were a few things here and there, but nothing major. I'd have to say that this was one of the best buying experiences that I've ever had. They've gained another customer for sure!

Now we move on to the service department to see how their good their customer service is.
