How's it going everyone? a couple buddies and I have been exploring the twin buttes reservoir. I didn't know this place had great rock crawling trails. The trails are great for stock Wranglers as well. We are always trying to find more vehicles to join. We meet Sunday around 1. Feel few to send me a message if you're interested. My name is will.

The trails are better than you expect. More than once I've had to back out of a climb with my stock Wrangler. We spend most of the time trying to figure out the toughest path up. Overall a good days worth of interesting and challenging trails.
I am currently in Austin for the summer, won't be back in Angelo till August. At the most we have had 4 vehicles together, not a big crowd. since I have been gone not many of us meet up anymore.
If you have any questions on where to find the trails or anything else you can shoot me am email. (

Good luck and happy trails!

Hello San Angelo.

I went down to Twim Buttes this past Sunday to test the jeep before a Christmas break trip. Drove trails for several hours and let the lab fetch a ball in the lake. The hill climbs just east of the spillway are lots of fun. Just driving around the lake on dirt was just what I needed after a tough week at work. I am not an environmental greenpeace type of guy, but I was disappointed in the amount of trash, broken bottles, etc. that were all over the place. I would hate to see this place closed down. You guys in San Angelo are lucky to have a place where you can scratch your offroad itch and be legal about it. Everything around where I live is private land and is usually guarded with cameras because of oil leases. It is about an hour and half drive from Midland to Twin Buttes and I plan to come again sometime. I just hope that it is still open . . .
