Sugar Hill Offroad Park

Has anyone in the Houston area heard about the new offroad park opening up around Alief?
Saw/read about it on Facebook. It's off Bissonnet near Kirkwood. From what I understand, it used to be a golf course and then turned into something else. It's supposed to be for ATVs and trucks. I'm not sure when it's opening to the public, but they have been out there working on it.

Unfortunately, because it's in the middle of town, it's probably going to get a lot of traffic in there. That is not a bad thing, but I bet most will be big trucks that will tear the place up. The obvious upside is it is so convenient.

Look them up on Facebook..... Sugar Hill Offroad Park

I don't see anything on facebook, looks like the page has been removed. We do need some more off road parks for jeeps though.

They actually just closed. The owners are trying to sell the property ($1mil).

The park used to be an old golf course. There are a few hills and "whoops", but nothing technical. It was free-reign out there to explore and make new trails.

There are a couple of developing mud bog areas, but it's been a bit too dry for that anyway.

I made it out there once. It was fun and well worth the 25 minute drive to get there. I was basically looking at it as an excuse to engage the 4wd.

So is this place closed now? I'm live out off Westpark Tollway, and I would love to find some place nearby to wheel.

I know this is an old, dead thread, but I am just curious if Sugar Hill is open now? Just got back into a Jeep yesterday and want to get those temp plates a little dirty

Dead maybe, but good to bring it back rather than starting a new one.

SHORP is open. There is actually a group from the Katy area heading out there on Sunday. Look for "Katy Off Road Enthusiasts" on FaceBook and you can follow the plans there.

I called the number for this park about 3 weeks ago, said they were closed. But plans on re-opening in a month or two.
