Well from personal experience and of having seven Jeeps in the past I think the JK is the least equiped for offroading. I have had mine in the shop five times in four months for various issues and four of the five were out of pocket due to their being mud on this part or that part or Jeep came back and stated it was misuse of the Jeep. I had a friend that bought a new tranny on his 13 after 400 miles due to "neglect". Jeeps are "trail rated" but I couldn't get a correct response on what that means. All my previous Jeeps I had a great time with and kept them running top notch with zero issues thus far my 13 has been a pill but an amazing ride and first rate on the comforts.

As far as playing in the mud and water goes you are probably right because of electrical issues , but keep in mind the stock driveline on a JK is way stronger then older wranglers and CJs and not everyone plays in the mud. Personally a stronger drivetrain = better equipped since I think in terms of strength instead of how well something can swim. Of course we all have our own views.
