I just need a degree to get into OCS. But when I apply to flight school it's an admissions thing and they only take "the best of the best of the best, sir" my college gpa isn't so great so I have to excell in OCS or I won't get picked to fly.
I know I'll be a great pilot. They just gotta let me prove it.

I'm a little late getting in on this, but good luck bud on finding an F15 on a carrier deck. Those are USAF only fighters and they will be phased out due to the F22.

Get into an ROTC program at your college.

F-15 would be airforce not navy. Havnt fully decided which branch I'm joining yet.

And they won't be phased out till 2020. And the f35 will prolly take it's place instead of the f22. The f22 has been all by discontinued.

Also, I'll give the ROTC thing a miss.

I wouldn't count a ton on the F35. That thing is way over budget and at this point I don't see how it can be financially intelligent for DoD to keep funding that. I think they need to take that back to the drawing board and try a new fighter. Or better yet, concentrate on getting the F22 issues hammered out. I would hope production on the F22 would be renewed and the production lines would be reopened.

When I'm knee deep in grenade pins and empty shell casings, I'll be happy to have those guys overhead dropping bombs. A10 CAS for the win. It's amazing that plane was almost scrapped in the 90's.

The point of the f 35 was to produce a gem 4 fighter equal to the raptor but cheaper. The biggest hang up on the 22 is that even without all it's problems and it killing pilots it's hella pricey. Don't really know how it's going I'm not on the inside loop of the usAF info list.

Believe me, I understand the issues between the two fighters.

The F22 is pricey and I do know that's one of the main reasons production was stopped on it in favor of rolling out the F35. However, trying to produce the F35 so it can function with all branches of service is really only adding to the costs. In theory, the idea of a fighter developed for everyone is great with the ability to add certain packages depending on branch is great. But during development, each service starts getting their fingers into what they do and don't need. You can't make one fighter to placate each branch, even if you allow for an AF, USN, and USMC package.

It was a good call to try this, but it's just not really feasible. Each branch might better off going the old route and picking one multi-role fighter and developing it for their needs.

What will happen with the JSF is anyones guess, but it's obviously not going to be cost effective at this point.

Here's a good read and report that was done last year as many of the problems with the F35 truly started coming to light.
