Hey Kid, sorry for the absence lately, work has been nuts.

Warrior, I'm in Odessa, we moved here from Central PA about a year ago, lived there for about 3 years. Let us know if you have any questions, we'll help ya out the best we can
Appreciate it. Just down and getting settled in came off a pump Down that had to have a kill plug and cement done so the well could be fixed. Got a log tp leave put for in 2 hours then back out for a pump.down. gonna be a rush down here i can tell already. The shop I'm at is shorthanded something fierce! Price of starting up a new shop in a new area. But glad it pays the bills! I'm on Midland Dr. If you guys go wheeling wouldn't mind coming along. If I'm free.

Sounds like a winner, will definitely let ya know. A good portion of us are oilfield as well, so you know how fun the scheduling is. Do you work for a wireline company or a tool company?

Ahh.... I heard CDK was coming down. I worked with A LOT of CDK guys in PA. I know the owners fairly well if they haven't changed.

Now, I'm the Permian Basin field boss for the H-burton tool division. I was the same in PA as well. Cant remember their names off the top of my head, I'll have to get one of my old tally books to remember their names, but I've been on multiple jobs in PA with all of the CDK big wigs. Good guys, I always tried to help them out when I could.

I came down here last fall.

Hope you had a good time at the coast Kid, I'm not sure about everyone else, but I didn't end up going anywhere this last weekend or the one before. I've had to work on my Jeep instead of drive it the last two weekends. Nothing too major, but I had a wobbling issue (which for a YJ is pretty odd & rare) which ended up being a few bearings, ball joints, & tires out of balance again. I've never had this much trouble out of a set of BFG All Terrains, have to get them balanced every two months & my rims are perfectly fine.

Anyone else go wheeling?

Hey Midessa Jeepers! Been lurking a while and have read this complete thread. Looks like everyone in West Texas is looking for a relatively close place to wheel, camp, drink beer, etc. I've got just the place. . .

Guadalupe Ranger District of Lincoln National Forest is about 40 miles west of Carlsbad, NM. I have been there over the past 10 years too many times to count. About 300 miles of jeep trails, not many people, camp practically anywhere, higher elevation (5,000-7,000+ft) means it will always be at least 10 degrees cooler than in Midland/Odessa. It is about a 2.5 hour drive to Carlsbad where it will be your last chance to get all supplies you will need. There is no gas/water/groceries/ice in this area. Bring extra gas. It is another hour drive from Carlsbad up into the mountains to camping sites for a total drive of 3.5 hours, but it is always worth it. Beautiful canyons, big pine trees, great secluded camping, dark night skies with lots of stars, lots of wildlife.

I have long ago given up on finding anything worth my time any closer to Midessa. It is a very doable weekend trip if you need to get out of the flatlands every once in a while to retain your sanity. Leave on a Friday after work, set up camp, night ride on Friday night, run trails all day on Saturday, ride 1/2 day on Sunday, return home.

If interested, the wife and I are meeting some people in this area for Labor Day Weekend (Aug 31-Sept 3) and you could come along. We will be leaving late afternoon Friday and returning Sunday so this will be a trip with two full days and a 1/2 day of Jeeping. Our group will be camping at a yet to be determined spot that will certainly have room for others. Our focus will be trail riding, trailside bullsh*tting, drinking cold beer. If this is not your idea of a relaxing weekend, don't go. This is a mature group that likes to have fun, not babysit out of control a**holes. You will need to come prepared to spend a weekend in this isolated area. Bring enough food, water, beer, gas so that you are not begging for these items from others. Bring tools, air compressor and other jeep related items that you feel you might need. Most of the trails are not real difficult for experienced drivers. There are dry creek beds along most trails that we sometimes attempt for more excitement that are more difficult to impossible.

Awesome Gymguy! Glad you dropped in! I take it you live in the area given the UTPB email addy? Not sure if the wife & I would be able to make it labor day weekend, but sounds just like our cup of tea, per say. If not anything else, would love to do a local meet & greet some afternoon soon.

Also, I'm in Odessa too, if you are a DIY type of person, you're definitely good to go. If not & ever need help doing any mods, shoot me a message. I do minor to moderate fabrication when I need to, do all my own mechanic work, & I am well versed in automotive electrical systems, modifications, & add-ons. If you ever need a hand, shoot me a PM
