My map says redX is on the south west side of Odessa. Am I headed to the right spot?

Sure sounds like it, it is on the far SouthWest side of Odessa. I'll snap a pic of the place tomorrow or Friday when I get a chance so you can see what the place looks like in advance.

It's outrageously easy. The hardest part is getting the bolts out of the window frame.

You're in luck, lol. I do custom automotive electrical, troubleshooting, & repair on the side. I don't mind helping one bit with stuff like that.

Directions & Additional Info

Yes, tomorrow is the day

As far as directions to the truck stop:

For those coming from Lubbock, the easiest way to get to the truck stop - Just as you are coming into the outskirts of Odessa on Hwy 385, turn right on west loop 338 & follow it all the way to I-20, take the exit to west I-20, then get onto I-20 & head west for a few miles until you get to Exit 112, once you exit you will see the truck stop just off of the exit.

I would say these directions would work for anyone coming from Odessa or Midland as well. Just take your nearest on ramp to I-20 west & head west until you get to Exit 112.

If you have any questions, everyone will have a PM shortly with my contact information & additional details.

Now remember, there will be Jeepers of all ages, including a few retired folks, so it would be appreciated if there is no drinking, drugs, etc. & no horseplay to keep it safe & enjoyable for everyone. Remeber to bring plenty of drinks/snacks, maintenance meds if needed, etc. for everyone in your Jeep/party.

Again,

Meeting Place: Red X Truck Stop - SouthWest of Odessa
Time: 1:00 P.M.

Hope to see you there. Be safe if you are traveling

Shouldn't be a problem at all, just make sure there aren't more people than there are seats & seatbelts

Safety is ALWAYS the #1 concern in my book. All fun ends if someone gets hurt

Just a friendly reminder, if anyone is a diabetic, has epilepsy, etc. make sure everyone remembers to have their meds with them

I checked my most reliable weather source, it will be windy out of the south, but looks like 20% chance of rain tomorrow night & not during the day. If not anything else, we can just make it a big meet & greet - &/or do it on Sunday possibly. I'll let you guys from Lubbock know what the weather actually looks like tomorrow morning as well.

As long as everything looks like a GO, we'll probably wait around & visit in the truck stop parking lot until 1:30 or a little after before we head to the pit to give everyone a chance to get there who might have gotten delayed for some reason. Where we are going is only a few miles from the truck stop.

Yep chevy 350 and a 5 speed manual tranny. I've got a little work to do to get her street legal (and reliable), but it should be a really fun toy.

Ok folks, 7:45 A.M. weather report, it's cool but not cold, cloudy with a brisk breeze out of the south with no sign of precipitation yet.

Might be a good idea to pack a jacket/coat, & maybe a blanket or two if there are any cold natured passengers riding along.

No problem, that's why I added in that buffer time. Weather is really starting to shape up nicely here. Should be able to get more than a few hours of fun in

Thanks Toolman, I'm new to jeeps and ideas/help are always appreciated. I'll be sure to get with you when I get her drivable. There's some brake and induction issues to sort out first. No real problem.... Just have to manufacture some time.

Any time, I am REALLY GLAD everyone had a great time. I had an excellent time myself, even with the broken axle.

It was only a matter of time anyway, I knew it would go eventually being it's a D-35. I took a peak inside the pumpkin with a handy mechanic's camera w/LED lit scope I have, & looks like the shaft snapped right where it slides into the Detroit locker.

Looks like funds will be in line very soon for me to go ahead & order the 4.88 gears/ARB locker for the complete 8.8 I have sitting here already in the garage, along with the 4.88 gears I need for my HP D-30/44 frankenfrontaxle that already has a fresh ARB in it, which is sitting right next to the 8.8

Again, I wanted to let everyone know that it was an extreme pleasure to meet, converse, & wheel with all of you today. I had a blast. Also, I would like to thank all of you for your help & concern with the broken axle, it meant a lot to me, really did - THANK YOU.

We will have to do it again soon & hopefully everyone can come out again. The good old Albatross will be back up & running tougher than before here in a month or two once parts come in, & I have time to get them all installed.

If any of you need anything in the future, do not hesitate to let me know, rather it be by phone, by PM, or by e-mail.

When all of you get a chance, PM me your email addresses & I will send the pics I took. If anyone else has pics they would like to share as well, please send them. I will compile all of them & send everyone a slide show with all of the pics combined.
