I appreciate it, hope to see you out there too.

Well folks, I pulled the broken shaft out of the rear-end & inspected the housing, bearings, locker, etc. just for grins. Everything else but the snapped shaft looked like new for the most part.

That being said, I decided to polish the turd & order chromoly shafts to put in the D-35 until I have my new 8.8 rear & D-30/44 Frankenstein front axle ready to go in. This way I can still drive the Jeep in the mean time while I am finishing the new axles up.

So hopefully, if the shafts show up in the morning; the old Albatross will be back out there this weekend If not, my wife & I will be riding shotgun with Sleemullins & H2Ogun. Hope to see everyone out there

It's 4" rc lift kit with adj. uppers SYE and a Tom woods rear cv shaft. I put the uppers at the length that the destructions said but at 70 mph slowing to 60 mph I have a vibration coming from the rear and don't know if I did it right as it is my first lift I've done to anything...yes did it myself cuz I didn't want to pay someone like west Texas offroad to do it thanks in advance

Can't blame ya there, I could give you an angle that should work just fine, but I'm checking with a friend of mine who has been doing it for years just to make sure. I'll let ya know as soon as I get a chance to visit with him next. Should be this weekend sometime

Well folks, it's official, the Albatross lives again. I just finished torquing the last bolt & putting the tools away. That being said, looks like I'll be driving it to the outing tomorrow after all

I had a blast, even though I had to cut it short and take off early. However, it was great to meet you guys (and Jess) and hope we can do it again soon. Half the fun is just hanging out with the good group we have.

And for those traveling and jeeping elsewhere this week, be safe going and coming, and remember to take plenty of pictures!

Completely agree, & glad you had a great time!

I have been emailing back & forth with the owner of the Outback Adventure park between Stanton & Big Spring. Jeeps & 4X4's ARE welcome, & he now has areas for them. I'm looking into a club rate & will let everyone know soon.

Hi everyone. My name is Danny, Im 46 years old, I grew up in Midland. Just retired from the Navy after 26 years, and moved back to Midland. I currently have an 05 TJL Rubicon. Have mostly done trail riding and rock crawling. I have some retired military friends out in Roswell that say the wheeling out there is great. What is the wheeling like out here?

Hey Danny. Welcome to the board!! Well around here there really isn't much. Just one spot that we all go too. It's a decent place nothing to write home about. But it gets the job done. Hopefully we ca get everyone together soon. Looking at another date to get everyone together. That's a sweet rig you got man.

Thanks beej. I'm actively looking for a job, and from what I can tell it shouldn't take long. I will keep an eye on the thread for a meet up.

Danny,
The wheeling spots in New Mexico are plentiful because of so much BLM Public Lands and National Forests. I have ridden trails around the Capitan Mountains near Roswell. Four to Five hour drive from Midland will net you lots of good wheeling spots in New Mexico. The closest higher elevation area (cooler temps) is the Guadalupe Ranger District of the Lincoln National Forest. You can get there in about 3.5 hours, stopping in Carlsbad for gas.
