Nothing wrong with that at all. I tell alot of the young roughnecks that they need to go to college or go back to college if they already have some college time.

I believe they are calling for packers, no cement with packers on this particular hole.

They kept me in that prison for 12 years, I'll be damned if they were gonna get anymore time from me in those cells any longer.

Ahh, yes, I do hear ya there on the classroom. I left high school in the 11th grade, got my GED, & started roughnecking right after. I hated school with a passion myself, but these days, I do wish I had a mechanical or petroleum engineering degree.

If you're drilling for Chesapeake that explains why you've been out there so long. They are morons on a good day. I have fixed many of their screw ups. I like them though, guaranteed work because you know they're going to screw something up on a regular basis.

LOL, I'm pickin' up what you're puttin' down quite well.

I've been thinking about getting into directional drilling, heck, I've run fishing tools, remedial tools, & completion tools, why not. Better $$$ than being an over glorified packer hand. I'm the trainer for our group actually.

I refer to myself as a glorified roughneck daily. Someones gotta teach these Y2K Fluffnecks how to work the floor.

Most drillers these days moved up to brake handle before being qualified roughnecks. Alot of the Pushers and Drillers are lacking knowledge to pass along... Sad situation.

Very true, but paying bills would be quite fun while in the engineering part of it. I do often think about it though.

Completely agree 100% It's f'ing pitiful on alot of these rigs these days. Not liking this Y2K generation at all. I grew up on one of those things, learned the old school ways, alot of these guys now make me sick at times, makes me want to pull my hair out. You should see some of the ones they want me to train, lol, let's just say HR has me on speed dial, I don't put up with cry babies personally.

Whats a Spinning chain, Cathead, driving tool, kelly, skimmer. How do Earth pits work.... Most of these guys would not make a hitch at FWA or JSM back in the mid 90's. I broke out at the tail end of the good ol days. Lotsa respect for the Older school hands.

You had to cut off casing by hand?? No welder with torch? Nope, Tubing cutters about 4' long standing in the cellar.

Oh do I know what you're talkin about. I worked derricks on an old FWA rig for a while, had everything you mentioned, & I loved it. Miss that stuff sometimes. LOL, we ought to get together sometime. Even used all of it on TMBR/Sharp rigs, & even Star rigs lol

I'm from galveston. It's intense. I've never seen so many jeeps in one spot. I'd say it's worth it, they line up and cover most of the seawall at east beach.
