Congrats brah! Welcome back to the team. My inspection took 4 trips to get the sticker last time. It was mighty frustrating.

I'll be honest, I'm not a TJ guy & have never owned one, but the longer arms allow for a taller lift. You can really find some good info on them in the TJ tech forums. I will say though, if you do get a lift, don't go with a cheapo, get a good sturdy & reputable lift so you don't end up with any wobble issues later down the road. RigChaser has a TJ & may be able to help you more with it than I can. He has a more demanding work schedule than I do but he gets on here when he gets a chance.

Basically. Short arm lift means you keep the same general length control arm you have now. Where as long arm you get new LONG control arms that weld to a custom skid plate at the center of your jeep. There are pros and cons to both. You won't see many long arm lifts shorter than 6" while you won't see many short arm lifts taller than 6" due to geometry a short arm 6" lift puts the control arms at seriously steep angles causing bad things to happen. In general anything over 3" lift needs an SYE/CV shaft. Every jeep is different. I needed one at 2.5" lift others do fine with a 4" lift no SYE. I think that covers the basics.

Thanks. Oh. And they are both coil lifts. Coil lift means you get new spring coils. Which is what actually does the lifting of the vehicle. And when you lift it. It throws the factory geometry out of whack. Which is why you need new track bars control arms and shocks. (after a certain amount of lift) YJ's don't get coil lifts they get...spring pack lifts? Not sure the terminology. Because they have 4 sets of leaf springs.

I finally found you guys! I'm from Lubbock where the only people who drive wranglers are either a 45 year old mother of 3 or a sorority girl. I wave at every wrangler and every time they dont wave back (which is A LOT of the time) I die a little on the inside

I completely understand. It's just a vehicle to a lot of them anymore, they don't get the lifestyle or comradory of true Jeepers

Here in Amarillo, usually the ones who don't wave are the rich, too-cool-for-you, high school kids with the brand new 2012 lifted Unlimited on 35's. $40,000 for an ungrateful, zit face, shithead. Unreal.

I completely agree, & probably would sh*t their pants if they ever went over a steep hill or got sideways in a little mud. Oh well, they'll learn.

I'm actually a senior at coronado high school here in Lubbock. I drive a 2009 2-door with 33 inch tires and black rims. My parents do make the payments on my jeep, but I do pay for everything else like gas and the 2.5 inch life I'm about to get

Oh and no I don't sh*t my pants every time I take it over a steep hill or get sideways in mud. In fact, not to toot my own horn, but I did reverse up a steep hill.
