All, let's get a thread going that focuses on Jeeps in Northeast Oklahoma. I am in Bartlesville.

Let's use this thread to post meeting times, discuss get togethers, meetings, etc and planning events. Even if it's just all of us grabbing a cup of coffee on Saturday morning and getting to know each other and talking Jeeps, etc. Let's make this a fun place to share experiences (or lack thereof) and organize as many meet ups and get togethers as possible.

Let's also "check in" with your first post. Maybe a bit of background of your rig, how much trail experience, and anything else you deem necessary. Hopefully this will be a great group guys! Can't wait to get started!

the above wording was deemed great for the purposes of creating a NE OK group and was borrowed directly with minimal change from @JV60. Thanks, @JV60.

My MAUD...

1993 Wrangler Base - Red - lots of armor - 35" BFG MT KM2's - 6cyl with AX15 and ATLAS 2 with 4.33 - lifted - Moderate trail experience - Minimal actual Rock crawling - All about the clean enjoyment of the outdoors. see my profile and MAUD's profile

I'll be out of the country for this one. I've done the K-trail about five times now though. The section between Indian Highway and Three Sticks is definitely the most overgrown. The last time I ran this the K-trail, somebody sabotaged one of the mud holes with a big steel plate that had two spikes welded to it and it was sunk in one of the longest mud holes on the trail. Maybe a half mile before the fire tower. We had 11 Jeeps and 21 flat tires. ALL on the left side. It took us about four hours to get everybody rolling again and it was well after dark. I've seen some sketchy people every time I've run this section of trail. I'd suggest that if there is a real tempting water hole or mud hole to drive through that has a go-around, take the go-around. It's not as much fun as going through the water hole, but still more fun than fixing 21 flat tires on a trail.

I've only done the section after Three Sticks one time. It's real pretty out there. Not real challenging at all. It dumps you out on the road about a half mile west of the OK/AR border. If you go east from there, the trail continues north and east up to Talimena Drive. I've never done that section.

Somebody left their trailer at Clayton Lake last time. You just have to pay for the camping spot. I wouldn't leave it in town. I camped at the fire tower one time. It was extremely windy up there. Every time I've been up there, it has been very windy. There's some other camp spots in the area though. My favorite is Cedar Lake. It's north of Talimena Drive and it's about a half hour of pavement to get there. There's also the Winding Stair National Recreation Area on Talimena Drive. It's a few miles west of the highway that Three Sticks is on. 271 I think? It's really nice. Once you go past three sticks on the K-Trail, it opens up. A few miles down, there are some primitive camping spots. They'd be pretty hard to find in the dark though. Cedar Lake is by far my favorite though. They have showers and a giant covered pavilion. We even set up camp in it last time when it was raining. You can swim in the lake too when it's warm! I guess you could swim in it now too if you're crazy.

Far too long

I have a confession to make. It has been many many months since I last logged in to the forum. I am so happy to see it is still vibrant and full of amazing folks.

I became a Jeep owner in the spring of 2016 and have just endured what I will forever call a "Winter of Discontent".

Nobody warns you of this, not the nice sales guy at Chris Nickel, not the fine folks on the Northeast Oklahoma Jeepers Forum, nobody. But the depression is real!

We, just like the ruggedly individual, iconic vehicles we love, crave freedom and sunshine. But winter is an unforgiving fascist and keeps us zipped up and buttoned down. (Except for the most hard core among us. And yes I saw you with your bikini top, driving down the BA, in a parka, in January)

This week I realized I had hit rock bottom. Bringing my son home from school driving down Brookside, he said "Daddy, you never do the Jeep Wave anymore, people are going to think you are mean"

At that exact moment, in shame, I looked down at the emblem on my steering wheel and much to my shock, it now said Fiat.

I was horrified! I rushed home to do the only thing I knew to fix this. I began to Just Empty Every Pocket. The HD Trailforce front bumper and Neoprene seat covers are on the way. I just hope its not too late.

For any of you reading this, please take action this weekend before it is too late. Today is in the 70's and tomorrow looks to be in the 80's. Embrace this respite from the oppressive clutches of winter.

For any newbies just joining in: "WINTER IS COMING"

So after a lot of thought, I've decided to sell my 14 JKUS. But I am now looking to buy an 03-04 Rubicon. Honestly, I'm just tired of having a car payment.

I came across this CL posting for an 03 Rubicon with 55,000 miles for $15,250. I talked to him and he is willing to come down to $15,000 because the tires have about 50% tread left. A little more than I wanted to pay but it has everything done that I would want. One catch is that it is in Denver but that will make for a nice weekend.

Would y'all mind looking at the link and giving me your opinion on if it's a good deal before I pay a mechanic to look at it.

Here is the link.

Thanks and don't be afraid to be harsh. I'm going to be talking to him again this evening.

I think that thing looks like a good deal. I sold my mostly stock 2006 TJ Sport with 100K miles in 2014 for $16,000. The components on that are good stuff. The winch is one of the cheaper ones but a lot of people use the Engo winches without issues. It's still worth that even without a winch. The mileage is good too. TJs have air lockers unlike the JKs that have electronic lockers. Make sure they work. If not, it's likely something simple. I loved my old TJ. Tons of fun and a lot different than my JK.

Good eye, I didn't even notice that. But I'm assuming that is because the previous owner replaced the original hood with a poison spyder one. And then put the decal in the wrong place. Hopefully you get pictures and they verify that. Here is the VIN number and list of mods and equipment. Text Document Paper Font Paper product

If anyone else has anything I need to double check, please let me know!

I just decoded it as well. It is a Rubi.
It was first sold in South Dakota in 1/2003. The first owner sold it in 7/2005. The second owner sold it in 5/2011. The third owner registered it in CO 8/2011. The forth owner purchased it in CO 5/2016 and the mileage reported at that time was 51,459. It shows to have a lien on it so make sure you can get a lien release at the time of purchase. It hasn't been in any major wrecks that I can see in it's history, but it wouldn't hurt to have a professional look at it just to be sure.

Those are definitely Dana 44s and that's the factory locker switch on the center console. Looks like a Rubi to me. I have read about a few instances in the past couple of years where people bought a Jeep thinking it was a Rubicon and all it had were the stickers. Glad you checked. He never responded to me. I'd definitely have it looked at by a mechanic for any signs of being in an accident. Anyways, better safe than sorry.

Thanks for info from both. I'm probably going to do an inspection from lemonsquad before I go out. $140 for an inspection is cheap compared to what could be costs down the road.

Funny story about you not getting a reply...he texted me saying that's funny someone asked me yesterday for the same pictures for the same reason about the decals. He admitted that he was nervous that he got tricked a year when you asked for the pictures haha

If there was anyone interested in the March 4 – March 5 K-trail ride, that's not following the Facebook thread, here's an update:

Sticking with the overland theme of the original trip, Brent Cannon with Christian Crawlers has agreed to put together a ride thru the Ozark Mountains with tentative overnight at Mulberry Mtn. I'll hand over the details to Brent.
Given the interest in SMORR (which I think is a fantastic idea) I'd like to set up a ride for later next month there.
Thanks everyone for being patient with these ride changes

Reason for the change from K-trail: (copied from @KC10Chief)
Hey guys. I've seen this posted in a couple of groups today. Looks like the K-Trail is closed for good from Clayton to Three Sticks. Apparently, you can drive in from Three Sticks to the fire tower but no further west. I guess it's all private land and the land owners don't like off-roaders coming through any more. Here's the info I've seen. Might call the numbers on there and double check.
"I talked with Pushmataha County game Warden, Dane Polk this morning. Had a long phone conversation with him. It's been a private road for years and years now. It's 100% private land on both sides of the road (as we knew), and IT'S A PRIVATE ROAD as well (no different than someone's driveway). Has been for a LONG time apparently. This isn't a recent deal. There is NO forestry land up there, and no ODWC land either. There USED to be but it has all been sold to private land owners, so everything on and along the trail is private from 9 Pine Road up till the Fire Tower. From the fire tower eastward is USFS land and legal to be on. I went by the 9 Pines entrance of Clayton Trail yesterday and there are no signs, no gates, nothing... so I asked Dane why there wasn't anything there to stop the traffic, and he said that they just get ripped down and it's a lost cause to try and stop them... he did say if you are caught on it, and the land owner wants to press charges, you will be fined a $500 trespassing ticket the first time, and the 2nd time you are caught it's $1500. Doesn't matter if there are signs or not, as you DO NOT need to post your land in Oklahoma to press trespassing charges, so signs or not, it's illegal to be up there. If you don't believe me, or have questions of your own, please contact Dane Polk, Pushmataha County Game Warden based in Clayton, OK (+1 580-271-0808). He will tell you everything I just did, as he has jurisdiction over that trail. Not USFS, not country Sherrif, not local PD... Dane is in charge of it."

It really stinks that we can't run the western half of the trail any longer. I was planning a trip for April. I am not aware of any other trails like it in OK, does anyone know of any that are as challenging in OK?

Is the Christian Crawler group going to run the High Water mark trail in the Ozarks?
I have seen some video and it looks like it could be a good time.

They have before, but I missed that ride. We'll try to plan one of those this spring/summer too :)

Here's the latest that was posted last night:

I have been putting together a route for a men's church group in kansas and would like to pre-run it if that works for everyone. i'm not quite sure where we will start but I'm thinking about starting in Deer, AR. Camping will be where ever we end up on Saturday evening about 5:00 and may or may not have restrooms, it just depends on how far we get. How many would be camping on Saturday night? For those that need to head back at the end of the day that shouldn't be a problem but, again it really depends on our progress as to what might be a good spot to hit pavement. As with the K-Trail you are likely to get scratches on your rig. Also I'd recommend at least 33" tires. You must have tow points front and rear, just in case you need a tug at some point. Also if you can't make it on Saturday it's really hard to try to meet somewhere on Sunday morning since we never know for sure where we might be. I look forward to meeting everyone, and will update this post with more details soon.

Well, the time has come to sell our JKU. Once I figure out a fair asking price, I will share it with the okie members here, then it's off to facebook and craigslist. She's been a good one.

Hey everyone, my name is Keith and I just thought I would drop by and say hello. I recently joined the forum and I have 2014 JKU Rubicon and my wife has a 2011 JKU Sport. We live in Tulsa and will try to meet up with others when we can. I am still running mostly stock after getting the Jeep back in Sept but reading a lot and trying to decide on what mods to do.

Here's the trip description, we'll start at 10 am. It's about 3.5 hours from Tulsa so we'll be heading out about 6 am Saturday morning.

For those that haven't wheeled in the Ozark National Forest we will be visiting some of our favorite points of interest but hopefully from some trails that we haven't been on in a while. We will start out on a trail that is familiar to some that have wheeled with us before, it is one of my favorite scenic trails and follows the Big Piney Creek passing by a seasonal waterfall called Carwash Falls, from there we hit a trail less traveled then to Pilot's Knob, from there we will wind our way to the old Union School House and then take the back way out and end up over by Ozone where we will take the switch backs down the mountain (another one of my favorite trails) to the old homestead, then try a new trail, then hit highway for a short distance, then back to dirt to Catalpa where we will take another lesser known trail and a new trail (if we can find it) and come into Oark from the south on dirt. Will stop at the historic Oark Cafe for fuel and possibly food depending on timing then take the highway for about a mile and take another trail that will wind us through several trails north of highway 215 then eventually come out around Cass. From there if there's still time we will take several trails that will get us over to White Rock Mountain overlook. I'm not sure where we will camp on Saturday night but it will most likely be a primitive site, just depends on how much ground we cover on Saturday. Please post up if you plan to go and if you will be camping with us on Saturday night. I need to get a final count.

Ok Jeff, as much as I want to make this work this weekend, I think I have to bail. I am trying to think of everything I can to go, but Cody has a big formal dance that Paige will kill me if I am not home for. If something comes up and I can go, I'll post up.

I am going to work on the trailer too. Maybe if we go to SMORR in March or April, it'll be ready, or at least together enough to use it.

If you had a way to carry it I'd let you borrow the tent. Ginger would have you saving money for that for sure though.
