All, let's get a thread going that focuses on Jeeps in Northeast Oklahoma. I am in Bartlesville.
Let's use this thread to post meeting times, discuss get togethers, meetings, etc and planning events. Even if it's just all of us grabbing a cup of coffee on Saturday morning and getting to know each other and talking Jeeps, etc. Let's make this a fun place to share experiences (or lack thereof) and organize as many meet ups and get togethers as possible.
Let's also "check in" with your first post. Maybe a bit of background of your rig, how much trail experience, and anything else you deem necessary. Hopefully this will be a great group guys! Can't wait to get started!
the above wording was deemed great for the purposes of creating a NE OK group and was borrowed directly with minimal change from @JV60. Thanks, @JV60.
My MAUD...
1993 Wrangler Base - Red - lots of armor - 35" BFG MT KM2's - 6cyl with AX15 and ATLAS 2 with 4.33 - lifted - Moderate trail experience - Minimal actual Rock crawling - All about the clean enjoyment of the outdoors. see my profile and MAUD's profile
Of the people you tagged I know/wheeled with 4 of them. Both Brians, Heather and Trey.
This is our second Jeep, I'd consider us beginner-moderate wheelers. Done Disney twice now, K trail, Quachita National Forest 3 times, Ozark National Forest once and Keystone several times.
We have 6 kids, a band & a church that require our time, so we wheel as much as we can within those obligations. But that's not often.
We're up for any meet-greets, wheeling, whatever, but have a very hectic schedule. So we'd be one of those "if we're free we'll be there" types.
Our current Jeep is a '14 Rubicon (JKUR) that's my wife's daily driver. We ordered in January of '14 and it got here late march. I've installed a 3" Mopar (Teraflex) lift that I gained 4.25" up front, 37x13.5x17 Toyo MTs, Teraflex brake kit, Teraflex HD diff covers, Teraflex monster track bar, Teraflex tire carrier, Artec Truss/C gussets/ CA skids, Smitty front/rear bumpers & side rails, Synergy ball joints, revolution 4340 rear axles, Superwinch Tigershark 9500s winch, some LEDs & wiring, trimmed the fenders & trimmed the pinch seems. I had Harmon 4x4 install 4.88 gears.
Also have a Teraflex 1.25" body lift sitting on the kitchen table waiting to be added.
Awesome thread idea Bushyhead! As Jeff mentioned, we've wheeled together a few times and I've tagged along on one K trail outing with some others mentioned above. I'd say I'm at a moderate level of off roading but I'm mainly interested in overloading/exploring/camping. I'm a lazy member of Jeepers Anonymous, Red Dirt Jeeps, and some other overloading groups but I can be a borderline luddite when it comes to social media.
I'm located in Inola, which is 30 minutes east of Tulsa, so Disney is relatively close but I've also been to Keystone quite a few times. I'm in Colorado at least twice a year so that's my favorite wheeling area but recently I've been pretty obsessed with the Oklahoma Adventure Trail and dirt road jaunts on my street legal dirt bike.
My jeep is an '08 sport JKU that's about to hit 95k miles and it's outfitted with a 3" Teraflex lift, a "bipolar" winch (it only works if you ask nicely), Bestop front and rear bumpers, JCR sliders, 35" Trail Graps, OR-Fab tire carrier, Synergy ball joints, Moog unit bearings, C gussets on a 3.73 geared, non-locked D30, Adams front driveshaft, Synergy drag link, diff covers, some other stuff and a lot of stickers on the inside! Oh and I have a Trek Top for sale if anyone's interested.

What is your street legal dirtbike? Also as far as this thread goes, I think that we should list any places that were thinking about going that any of the NorthEastern Oklahoma or Arkansas brothers/sisters might like to go at the same time. That's hilarious about the bipolar winch…
2014 JKU Sport bone stock aside from 265/75r16 hankook tires that I bought prematurely two weeks after I got it from the dealer....regretting them and trying to be "responsible" and not buy new tires until my recent honeymoon is paid off.
Haven't really done any off roading so definitely a beginner.
Newb checking in. It might be a while until the water level goes back down. I saw on the news that they had seven flood gates open! I've never seen the water that high before
Yup it'll be awhile before we can go to Disney, I would definitely like to check out the K trail sometime in the spring.. I was supposed to go the weekend before Thanksgiving but I ended getting really sick so I couldn't make the trip. Anyone else go out there annually?
Sweet! Yeah I may have a buddy in a YJ and another in a Jk that wanna go so lemme know whenever you get a date together and we'll have us an awesome convoy
i'd say keep me in the loop with regard to this trip if you want to make it a group outing. I have some plans made toward the end of Feb, but may be interested.
Okay, right now the tentative schedule is the weekend of Feb 20th or the 27th.
I only plan on running half of the trail and then back tracking back into Clayton for the night. If it goes fast maybe do the whole thing to Mena AR in one day but I am not sure we will have the light for that this time of year. But, if anyone wants to camp on the trail or do the whole thing please don't let my lame plans stop you.
I'd probably wanna camp on the trail... But of course that's going to depend on the weather. Maybe do half the trail Saturday and finish it Sunday. I don't know anything about how long it is or how long it takes to do the trail. Imma have to do some research on it but I know I definitely wanna trail ride 2 days and maybe stay Friday and Sunday night depending on work...
From what I have read you can do it in 8-9 hours without pushing very hard. It's 90 miles and ends in Mena Ar. Most everything I have read has people starting in mid morning and then camping around the halfway point.
I have read of small groups doing the whole trail in one day but that looked like it was during the summer when we have tons more light.
We are coming from Norman so this is the plan that we have so far. Leaving Norman around 7 and getting into Clayton around 10. Gas up, maybe grab some trail snacks and then head out. My plan is to do 2.5-3 hours on the trail and then turn around and head back to Clayton. I'll crash at the hotel there and then maybe check out one of the other off-road parks in the morning for a couple of hours and then head back home.
I welcome anyone to join in on any part of this and like I said, if you want to stay on the trail and finish it I am a little jealous and encourage you to do so. I don't have any cold weather/wet camping gear so it's not the right time to camp for me.
Hi all, I'm in Tulsa, I've just been quiet on the forum lately.
I've done the K Trail 5-6 times, it's doable in 2 days. The west section runs from Clayton to the "Indian Highway". That's your bailout point to go back to Clayton via highway. Clayton to the Indian highway is about 5.5-6hours via the trail and 1.5 hours back to Clayton via the highway.
We usually camp at Clayton lake state park the first night before we start and then either camp on the trail or head up to cedar lake state park to camp the second night.
The west section is the most difficult but can be done stock with a spotter and rock stacking. After the 80+" of rain they got this year in SE OK, the trail has washed out a lot and gotten slower.
The section east of the Indian highway between there and the 3 sticks monument at highway 285 is very tight but not terribly difficult. Expect trail scratches in this section. This is the section with the famed fire tower. We've made it from Clayton to the fire tower in one very full day. Was maybe 8-9 hours of trail.
From 3 sticks to Mena is basically a gravel road. This can be done in 2 hours or less.
I'd be happy to come along on the next trip. Just keep me posted.
Honestly, whenever I read about lockers and anti-spin differentials my head starts spinning haha. Don't really understand what they do, besides the anti-spin locks the rear differential, or what how they benefit.
But either way, I don't have either. And from what it sounds like from yall, I don't know them because I can go around the hard stuff?
Haven't really gotten any bad scratches, so that makes me nervous. But oh well

They give power to both (rear or front depending on which differential they're in) tires spin at the same. Instead of just whatever side has the least resistance. I have one in the rear and it's almost just as good as having 4wd when wheeling. I've gone to Disney before without my front driveshaft. (I take it off cuz I drove a pretty good distance for work and forgot to grab it on the way out) and I had no problems getting up over and through the trails.
I feel like I have watched every video on youtube about the k-trail and a lot of what I have seen have been stock vehicles.
It looks like my plan has a firm date now. Feb 20th. Coming from Norman will be me in my mostly stock TJ on 31's. A friend in his mostly stock TJ with 33's and another friend in a heavily modified JK. Everyone else who wants to join is more than welcome.

Tulsa? I have been out of town all week. Tomorrow?
I'd be interested in checking it out.
