1/20 - Riverside Area Wheeling Anyone??

On Sunday morning, I wanted to take a few friends from out of town out for a little bumpy dirt road riding - nothing serious. I will put my top down, and get the Jeep a little dirty someplace local.

On 12/28, three people were tragically killed while waiting for a bus in Riverside near the Tyler Galleria. One of the victims' twin sister (and Mother) are here visiting from South America until Monday, and I would like to take them out for a short drive. Where they are from (Peru), the land is ripe for 'wheeling, but most people don't have the $$means$$ to get out on the trail.

If anyone is interested, please send me a private message. I am sure this would be a way to tell Melissa's family that Riverside is with her and her family.

More info on the accident

Description:
Small spur trails that climb hills - some with deep ruts, rocks here and there. Steep U-shaped bowls to drive in and out of. You can walk the iffy stuff, great views of the smog - next to the 215 freeway.

Back in 2005, I saw this hot Toyota Supra that was sitting on blocks - all of the drivetrain was missing, but it made a great RTI Ramp for our Jeeps. I didn't see any stolen cars this time - the place was pretty clean, in a matter of fact.

This should be fun for maybe a couple of hours tops.

Any stock Jeep can handle these trails. Nothing serious. We plan to meet at the Food 4 Less Parking Lot on California and Van Buren (across the street from the ARCO station) at 10 AM.

Riverside Jeep Run photos

Our group met up at 10 am and after picking up Oscar and his In-laws, we drove to our top secret spot for some junkyard 'wheeling!

There were plenty of rocks and obstacles to play on.

Mike's Jeep went up and over w/no problems.

Oscar had a great time and met a great group of people.

John's Jeep tackling one of the rock sections of the trail

Mayra had a great time - this being her last day in Southern California for some time to come.

We shared the trail with ATV riders who were courteous and also had a real fun time.

Mayra flashing the "Paz" sign showing that she had a fun time in the housing tract.

Coastie cruising up a set of rocks - his first ever to tackle from behind the wheel of a Jeep!

Up and over

Mayra's Mother had never run a trail - let alone sat inside of a built and trail ready Jeep JK!

My Wife was happy that Mayra and her Mother enjoyed themselves.

The guys had a great time and also had time to talk modifications and trails.

We found a fun trail to climb with a steep drop-off.

Mike drove my Wife, his Daughter, and his 1 1/2 yr. old Grand-daughter!

Oscar showing that he had a great time (not looking for a ride along the 215 fwy)LOL

We ran trails for roughly 2 hours in all.

The Almighty90 looks blue in this photo.

Looks like you guys had a blast. I Mountain Bike in that same area. It's call Heartatack. Ride a bike thru there and you will know why it's call that. Anyways, I did not think it was legal to drive in there. The rocks you went over were placed there to keep out cars. Ever have a problem with the law out there???

I don't think there's much of a law problem cause there were dirt bikes and quads all over there.

Mayra is packing, getting ready to return to her native Peru. She wanted to thank everyone that put this event together. This made her and her Mother happy despite the tragedy that brought them to Riverside. Thanks again Evan, John, Todd, and Mike for bringing your Jeeps to play.

Having fun on a warm January day!

This hill was real fun to climb and slide around on with bald tires!

The funny thing - This family had visited Disneyland (along with my Wife) the day before, and they were so groggy that morning before getting into the open-topped Jeeps and feeling the sun and wind.

This was also very therapeutic for Oscar - a real great guy who has been through a lot.
