Interesting... why would she need to track us.

If you want, give me her phone number, I will put my SPOT in your Jeep and every 10 seconds you can send her an update on your position while on the trail. Of course she will need to know how to read lat/long and place that into google maps or Earth but you have time to train her for that.

He will be fine. Stock FJ's go up these trails as do Hummers.

So I just put the hard top on today. I'm thinking I'll take the bypass to the V-Notch on this run. I don't want to risk breaking my hard top in the unlikely event I flop in there.

Her words to me...."I just can't have my daughter, out in the wilderness with a bunch of Jeep-Hypes.....I need to know, what do you call yourselves??"

Holland Gay Camp, might make her call the National Guard, on us.....

I personally, am NOT worried about what Mrs. Goldforth will be going through, that weekend. As long as I keep the shiney side up.....she can worry and sweat, to her heart's content..

Hypes or Hippies? Don't let her see my license plate then. Some people jokingly translate it as Hippie 4-Wheelin'.

Yeah, knowing what we call ourselves will help her locate you out in BFE fer sure. Knowing the Jeep crowd it will be the safest most secure enviroment her daughter will have ever known.

Can hear the conversation now:

Hello Mojave Ranger station how may I help you (that is if anyone is even there)

Yes, I am Mrs Concerned and my daughter is out there with the Holland Gay Camp Club and I have not heard from her in 3 hrs and am concerned for her safety. Gilligan and Maryanne were only supposed to be gone for 3 hrs and were stranded for 5 yrs. Probably some cult thing where my baby is being forced to participate in some random religous rite. Speaking of which she probably isn't even wearing the right stuff as she left here with sneakers. Sneakers which she bought on sale ya know. She save herself over 50% off the original price but then again, had she not bought them in the first place she would have saved all her money. That money could have gone to her wedding which most likely won't occur now because she is missing with this CULT or whatever it is.

(She takes breath finally and the ranger interrupts, or at least attempts to)

Okay Ma'am please calm down. We will attempt to locate this Holland Gay Camp clan and see what is going on.

Not a clan sir, it is a CLUB! And, I can't calm down. What if it was YOUR baby out there in the "wilderness" with a bunch of crazy, religous, rite practing jeep crazy "people"? Huh?

Okay ma'am... will do... we will take a ride around the area and see if anyone has seen your child... May we have her name, description and what she was last wearing?

Why does it matter WHAT she was wearing? They probably have her dressed in white and sacrificing her because she is the only female out there... That is what they do, ALWAYS sacrifice the female. Why is it always the female that gets sacrificed??? huh WHY? WHY? (sobbing heard over the phone)

3 hrs later when the ranger makes his way to the Holland Camp...

He is offered a beer and poor Mrs Concerned continues to fret the night away.

fast fwd 3 more hrs...

Kern County SAR (Search and Rescue) services are activated, helos, arrive on site, people repel into the camp... helo lands at remote landing strip. Next thing ya know there is a RAVE going on out in the middle of Red Rock Canyon. Why is this? Because the SAR crew was a bunch of Sailors out of China Lake Naval Air Station and they know a good time when they see it.

The next day the daughter is returned safely to her domicile and the boosom of her. Mother grounds her for life and demands she stay away from Jeep Hypes the rest of her natural life.

(End scene)

Yep, that is how I see this unfolding.

Of course now we have GOT to show up for this run.

And yes, this was done first thing in the morning, no alchohol involved, just the legal, for now, drug we all know and love CAFFIENE.

lol nice ... I'm sure this goes without mentioning but in a twist of irony I'm sure that when the ranger sets out to find the "Holland Gay Camp Wheeligious (too much?) Cult" ... he is driving a Jeep

Dave, you left out one very important part of the story and that is, the Limp Wrist Wheelers from the Holland Gay Camp turned her daughter on to Geico and she saved $84.95 a year on her insurance

She was thrilled and her mom wants to join the Rainbow Warriors on their next love in

On a serious note though, sounds like mom may want to join. Get her some fatigues and camo paint her face, make her swear to secrecy about the cult and bring her along

Okay, unbeknownst to anyone we did a pre-run today of the trail. Camp Holland is intact and the landing strip is set to go. No major washouts from the rains. We did see a PRIUS out there and that was disturbing but that was back by Bickel Camp. Just enjoy how people think they can go anywhere out there in anything. Now, it would have been epic if we had to give him a tug or something but we just sailed by at 11 MPG and happy to get that. Took some excursions. On one mountain top we could see China Lake/Ridgecrest as if it were sitting in our laps. Or, Under the Dome for you Stephen King fans. Did some off camber stuff that was interesting and got the heart rate up some. Also took the Mesquite Canyon shortcut... Ummm yeah, one or two spots in there that are not for the faint of heart or if you are responsible for some nervous ninny's daughter. Skirted the infamous V notch and kept on going through Last chance to Garlock.

End game, other then the gents shooting the long rifle out there, no surprises on the trail. Well then again we hope the guy in the Excursion got out okay. Had Utah plates but since a man was driving we all know he ain't stopping for directions.

Later people.
