Hey there boys and girls and Jeepers of all types, it is time again to start planning our annual trek to Calico Ghost Town for the next Meet n Greet. The past events have always been a ton of fun and if this is a first time event for you, I highly recommend to come on out. We have runs for all skill levels, pot luck dinner/party after the Saturday run and lots of friendly people to hang out with.

This is a 3 day event from March 27th through the 29th. We camp at the Calico Ghost Town Campground and reservations can be made here San Bernardino County Regional Parks Department Online Reservations.

For those not familar with the Calico Camp Sites, there are tent sites, RV Sites and cabins along with a couple of bunk houses if you don't mind being cozy with other Jeepers or you are in a large group of friends.

A few simple rules for the Meet n Greets:

1. No drinking on the trail
2. Recovery points front and rear.
3. Fire extinguisher within reach of driver and others
4. First aid kit within reach of drivers and others
5. CB Radio
6. Spare tire within 2" of tires on rig

For the runs, I will ask now for volunteers to lead the trails. As a trail leader, please be familar with the trails, able to provide spotting if requested.

Trail leaders will have the option of standard equipment requirements for the runs they lead, ranging from a stock vehilcle to lockers, winch, min tire size etc.

OK Gang, lets get this party started!

Beginner/Moderate Trail led by Turdhurdler: Mule Canyon, to Phillips Loop, to Kramer Arch, and going to Bismark Mine to explore a bit. Bring a flashlight if you want to go very far into the mines. If enough interest, we will drive towards Wall Street Overlook and hike to the cliffs for lunch. It is possible to drive to Wall Street, but a very well built rig is required, so we wont risk it with our group. This run path is tenative as of now. If you have any suggestions for alternate roads, let me know.

We will be leaving the Ghost Town at 9:00 am sharp and will have the option to air down and disconnect sway bars at the trail head. If anyone is really new and needs assistance on disconnecting, just ask and someone will likely lend a hand or point you in the direction of someone who can.

I'm putting us down as a go for this. We will be up top in the RV, I'm sure. I went to mark this on my calendar only to find it doesn't go this far out, lol.

Will your dad be coming in his Jeep also? If you lead a trail, do you have a preference of trails or any requirements for the trail?

I knew it before I even clicked on the thread.

BB was a blast but we are leaving on a cruise that weekend. Have fun everyone.
Sorry you wont be able to attend. Hope your cruise is as much fun as wheeling.

Site booked, coming in Thursday to chill before the weekend....Glad to hear there will be more fireball Jerry, I will bring some too....I think Tracey likes it :)

I know Mike does.... because he does this....
What site did you reserve Bill? Just trying to keep everything updated on the first posting.

First timer here, reserved A2, coming in Thursday,,leaving Sunday and heading up North for Spring break with the kids.
Looking forward to it!
You will have a blast. I have made many friends by setting up these little meet ups and always look forward to the next one.

That area has always been plagued by this activity, not very relaxing to say the least.
Will you be making the trip this time Dave? I think Jerry needs your son to spot for him on the trails.

The wife is checking our schedule. This would be our first time.
First timers are always welcome. Are you new to Jeeps or just the Meet n Greets?

I finially updated all the info in the first posting and will continue to keep the information current there for easy reference for anyone looking to attend or see if their information on attending is there. I do tend to miss someone every now and then, but I work hard to make sure everyone is accounted for.

To be sure, Calico has many trails to suit everyone from your grandmother driving her Lexus SUV in 4x4 the first time, like Mule Canyon, to the most hardcore rig looking for one of the most challenging trails anywhere... Doran Canyon's Gatekeeper. Calico is also home to some of the most beautiful, scenic, and colorful canyons anywhere, it's well worth the drive for anyone trying to decide. By far, this is one of my most favorite and most FUN wheeling locations and groups of people.
