Angry 2012 wrangler (4k miles) with massive rust!

The dealer never told me the undercarriage wasn't galvanized steel. I had no idea the car would look this bad after only 8 months. Has this happened to anyone? I'm furious! The car looks like crap!

P.S. The dealership is Stewart Chrysler Dodge Ram Jeep. They have said they will not do anything to remedy the problem.

Strong! 1st post here just to dealer bash. a tactic usually used to leverage the dealer into fixing something that may or may not be warranty.

Sounds like as flood vehicle. Use the VIN and do dome research.

No dealer ever told me what the underside of my car was made off. What made you think that your car's, hope it is a Jeep or you are on the wrong forum, has a galvanized steel frame???? Did you read it somewhere??? I think you expect to much from your Jeep. It is a Jeep, not a boat trailer.

Plus, where is the rust, show us some pictures??

My friend has a 2012 with more rust underneath than my 2002. My jeep actually has pretty much zero rust while his has rust on the front coil buckets, track bar mount, steering knuckles, and some on the frame as well. Never seen salt water or salty roads (california). Seems odd to me...

I sell them, and I see wranglers and Grand Cherokees coming off the trucks with undercarriage rust. And I have no clue as to where they're picking it up. No snow or salt on the roads of Toledo or Detroit in the summer. And they go from the finish line to a truck to a train to a truck to me. Go figure.

alot of new jeeps come with rust. i see jeeps from the dealer getting lifts and they have rust. one person say it has alot of rust, is not going to cause a recall. surface rust is not going to cause a recall. unless you have pictures showing your jeep is falling apart then your not going to making any dealer or any jeeper get all worked up!

Agree with this, undercarriage rust is somewhat normal. Do a search in the JK section for 'rust' in titles only. Some have more than others, but there's no real rhyme or reason. Supposedly the areas that are rusted won't be damaged by it.

I think the only ones that don't have rust are the people that haven't washed theirs yet...

Here's one of the threads, there are a bunch:
