Tamey and I are camping at Calico. We will be leaving Calico early Friday and making our way to HAMMERTOWN. (Wherever that is) we have never been to the KOH before so we do not know way around. Hopefully we can find some of you. If you see my Lj, give me a yell. I will be on ch 22 as well. BTW, I have done a whole bunch of work to my jeep so just look for my lic plate "JEEP LJ".
Hope to see you there, Dan

Hey grant, we're heading out to Calico on Friday morn for the weekend. Not sure about KOH.. it seems like too much work, so we may stay back and run some trails. If you guys have some free time head down the highway...

Hey Dan, that's a 2 hour drive so leave early. If we are not on the radio call me at (714) 271-5454. I left a message at the number I have for you.

The line will be long unless the weather scares people away. Bring umbrellas.

From Calico you can cross under the I15 and keep heading south to Dagget toward I40. Cross over and take Camp Rock all the way to Cougar Buttes. It's a wide dirt road all the way. Not sure if it would be any faster though.

I saw that I guess some brits had originally won but got DQ'd...bringing Gerald and John in at first. Its been pretty cool watching online what they have done to that rig since last year

I think I may have to go toodle around for a bit in Saturday! I am very close and probably have seen some 1000 jeeps driving out there there week. I am one of the lucky ones who live up here. It's a hop skip and a jump from my house in the south east portion of Apple Valley. But yes it's COLD high winds they say possible snow and again COLD!!!

All the time, but like Bill says, I guess we are wusses when it comes to the choices we have at times. He put it very accurately.

You may have already found this, but if no one is able to get you a shirt I think you can order one here: King of The Hammers - Ultra4 Racing - Official Merchandise

Sorry you were unable to go this year, it looks pretty darn cold out there!!

I just got back from the race. I cruised up last night. If I said it was a zoo it would be the understatement of the century. I don't think I could even begin to try to estimate how many people were there. It was just flat out nuts. So nuts that I didn't even bother to navigate the vendor section for my own event t-shirt. I'll be ordering mine online.

As for the conditions...

1. It was cold as F
2. The dust cloud in and over the dry lake bed was nearly unbearable.
3. The wind was both a blessing and a curse. It would pick up and blow the dust out but the windchill didn't help #1

Anyway, we ran over to Backdoor at the start of the race and the gnarly section was pretty much barricaded off - no spectators - so we headed over to Chocolate Thunder to catch some action. We ended the day watching them finish out Clawhammer.

Overall it was a great trip. With the extra people that poured in last night and today and the ominous looking weather that appeared inevitable, we decided to sneak out of there and beat the traffic and weather (the weather, I did not beat). If I ever get the energy to upload my pics/bids I'll post 'em up.

What a blast we had in California. Got to wheel for two days. Did Jack, Sledgehammer and outer limits in the JK. Put three trannys in the race buggy this week and our driver came in 13 or 14 place. (Clay Gilstrap #26). Had a blast but it is time to go back to Texas.
