I'm really sad we're going to miss this trip, it was the Pumpkins maiden voyage last year and so much fun!!

Mike has bowed out of a bbq obligation so we can go to Seven Oaks, but he has to make it up by running a reverse drawing for a friend the weekend of this run
Who says Mike needs to come ?

Jk, sorry that you cant make it out...next time!

As eager as I am to check out how much more difficult Nightmare Gulch has gotten, I'd be more than happy to lead a group branching off from Last Chance Canyon, to Burro Schmidt Tunnel and maybe some other things in that area if we have people who would rather pass on Nightmare Gulch. I'm sure I'll have other opportunities this season to run Nightmare Gulch anyway.

Ya between you, the twins, and I...we will figure something out. If we end up with 1 or 2 smaller jeeps, we can probably get them through nightmare...but if we end up with 5+...it'd probably be better to branch off. We will play it by ear over the next month to see how to go about it

Not my favorite video, but here is last year's trip. A few shots of the V-notch in LCC and some Nightmare Gulch stuff.

I actually told him that I don't have to be at the drawing and maybe I will go without him. He just gave me an odd look, I don't think he knew if I was kidding or not. Lol, we will see how things go between now and then

Sorry hot sounding dumb ... Are you referring to the rocker knockers at the bottom if the doors? I have those, but not z y other body armor besides skid plated underneath. I attached a photo, she's also my daily driver.

Yes those are fine. Being lifted, you may not even touch them

I did the Last Chance Canyon run, last year with Yomondo and his group. I did it on 32's, with open diffs. I've done the Dusy Ershim since then.....I might want in on this one....

Ya Last Chance has gotten even easier since then. Nightmare is the one that has seen some more drastic changes. Shall I add you to the list?

Be a day trip for us not sure which day yet.

Last time I was on Nightmare it was a night run. Canyon has changed a lot. Places that used to be hard are easy and other have some additional difficulty. One spot we had to make a step so the stockers could get through. We will be doing it this weekend so can write back with a status of how things are at that time.

I'd really like to go on this one with you guys but like Jeff mentioned we're already committed to the Base's Community Day on the 26th. Hope you have a great time out and maybe after things finish up we'll head over to camp and help celebrate with you guys.

Even with the changes to nightmare we got a stock rubi and a stock sport on 33's through. You will want rocker protection. Then again by the time this run takes place the rock stackers will have done their job.

On one run we had almost 20 rigs going through nightmare last chance.

Both Last Chance and Nightmare are in the El Paso mountains south west of Ridgecrest where we live. The trail head for Nightmare can be found off of hwy 14 just north of the Red rock Canyon State Park, Ricardo Campground, main entrance on the east side of the road right at the beginning of the big sweeping left hand turn.

The trail head for Last Chance is off of Red Rock/Randsburg road and I don't recall how far it is from hwy 14. Geoff's first post or his post from last year might have it. I will look and edit this post. OK found it, it's exactly 6 miles from hwy 14!

Hope that helps Jerry.

Here's the GPS track from the 1st Annual run. It includes a few key waypoints, including Ricardo Campground and Last Chance Canyon trailhead.
Last Chance Canyon and Nightmare Gulch GPS Track

Join us Jerry. It's always a good time on the trail and at camp. Great scenery too.

Ooh man I was afraid it was going to be up there by your neck of the woods Geoff. I dunno, that'd be a hard one for me to get to since I can't take any time off my new job yet I just started in August. Probably undoable, I wouldn't even get up there until 1-2am Friday night. I think I'll have to pass on this one, very regrettably.

Nightmare review:
In the daylight the canyon was not a challenge. We had stock TJ go through on 31 inch tires with no lockers or rockrail protection.
