Hey guys me again Im still hoping to go with, i just need some advice first, I recently had my jeeps engine rebuilt buy bad mechanics and i knew i shouldn't have but anyway when they did the work they of coarse requested a boat load of unnecessary parts for more cash and among them was my clutch.
I know my clutch is def old but i didn't want them to do the work so i passed. its now been about 3 months and about 3k miles an on road my clutch feels fine.
So my question is would it be ok to come to the meet with the clutch as is and just hit the light stuff? I just don't have the funds to replace it soon and id hate to miss meeting everyone, an my first REAL event....
Sorry for long post. if i go it will be me + 2 in my jeep.

I wouldn't worry about the clutch unless you're getting close to 200K miles. Even after abusing my clutch way too much, it was still in surprisingly good condition when I did a precautionary swap at 161K miles.
If you can bring the hot dog stuff I think that would be great. From my understanding, the sauce that is being brought will feed about 12 or so people. So an additional main course would be great.
Thats kind of what I was thinkin, Jeff. I think I have a hot dog cooker too so that I can cook them over the fire while the other food is being prepared. So I guess put me on the list for hotdogs, buns, and some toppings.
By the way, if anyone wants a lockable gas cap, I have one I want to swap for a non-locking version that we could exchange during this run. If your key matches my cap and works, we are golden. Remind me if you're interested.

My two cents...... you should be fine, the only thoughts I would have is what kind of gearing do you have..... 3.07 would mean you would be having to slip the clutch a little more....... with a 4.88 gearing set up you wouldn't have to slip at all... lol.
In either case, if your jeep is not slipping on the highway in high gear and your pushing on the accelerator, its still in working order.
if there are any preferred cookies let me know. otherwise ill just run down the cookie isle with my arms out and whatever falls into the cart ill bring.
I'm currently a little freaked out from watching the "Heart Attack Hill Rollover Accident Pt 1" video. I can see very clearly what went wrong there, but I'm freaked out nonetheless. I think I watched the video about 10 times already, but at least I know better than to let my wife see it....
What (if anything) can I do to prepare myself for this?
I'm not sure what food I'm gonna bring, but will let you guys know when I figure it out.
Heart Attack is getting much more press than its worth. Yeah, its fun and the first time you see it...makes you wonder a little bit. Then after coming down it, you look back up at it, and then say to yourself, "now what was all the fuss about".
As in any hill, point the jeep downhill. The video shows that they turned the wheels going downhill....now why would you do that?
So, now you know the secret about going downhill. (some secret)
There is some fun rock stuff before the hill that will give its own enjoyment to the trail.
Dont be freaked out, just take it as another fun trail with some fun elements. Other that a few fun spots, its mostly just a wash your driving in. In fact 90 percent of it.
BobO
There are idiots who can't drive down the street or freeway without having an accident which is the same for any offroad trail like Heart Attack Hill. No worries, we'll get you down safely and as mtbikbob said, you'll probably think "now what was all the fuss about" once you get down. Lots of beginners do HAH!
Ok, so this is a little embarrassing. I can't go. Why? Because I forgot my wife's birthday is that weekend! Hopefully, she doesn't read this thread. See you all next time.
Take her along and bring a cake and tell her you thought taking her into the beautiful back country of San Diego would be make for a wonderful special birthday for her. Heck we'd all even sing Happy Birthday to her!
Unless she's like my wife and hates camping without a toilet and shower.
i gonna bring a friend. he wants to see "how jeeps do it" so it'll be 2ppl total in my jeep.
