That is a great plan, yes east to west run for us.

I will be leading a group through John Bull and I will be video taping all members going through it. All I ask is for everyone in my Group to have 35" tires and Front and Rear Tow Points as a requirement. We will be going through at a fast pace but will stop and video tape/ photograph all the hardest obstacles.

I will be leading Advanced Group # 1 through John Bull.

For anyone who is curious, this is what you should expect when you consent to running the Advanced Trails -

Big Bear California, - John Bull and Holcomb Creek

I am curious. I as well as many others have gone through these trails many times on 33's so why are you requiring 35's now to make this run? Not everyone needs to take the largest boulder and most difficult line to go through these trails.

The reason why I ask for a minimum requirement is because I don't like people struggling or seeing them break their rigs trying to climb over obstacles. Nothing sucks more then damaging or not being able to finish the rest of the trail.

No one needs to climb over anything that they don't want to climb over...

And also, i'm not the only person in my group who is volunteering to lead a group of people through this trail, and i'm not the only person who has asked for a minimum requirement.

When your responsibility is to lead people through safely while trying to have fun, you also want to set some guidelines or requirements beforehand to let people know what to expect.

And remember that new JKUR's costs are upwards 30K and some people get pretty upset when they are not properly prepared for a trail. Not everyone has an old beater to trash.

You seem to be offended by my question as to your requirements. I was simply making a point and wondering why you have these requirements since most of us who attend these M & G have done these trails and know what to expect. Also, I do not know anyone attending these events that has on old beater to trash.

Just to remind everyone, these Meet n Greets are set@ up for fun and enjoyment. There is no real need to go through the trails at a fast pace since we are not racing. And yes, JB and Holcomb can be very difficult depending on the path you choose. That is where a good spotter and patience come in.

No one wants to break or be the cause of stopping a run, but it is a risk we all face when off-road. So, with that said, lets have a blast in Big Bear.

Hey guys, Let me throw my 2 cents in here as well...you both have valid points. John Bull is a very tough trail and calls for a locker and very high ground clearance. I dont dissagree with Delano askng for some minimum requirements. With that said, Dave is a very capable Jeeper with a well outfitted Jeep. I dont think anyone would have a problem with him or Coop (also 33s) doing JB. You have both done the trail before and know what to expect, that is not always the case and I would rather error on the side of caution. If people have a question as to whether they should attemp the run, they should ask. Let put the Flip offs away....no need for that. This is not Pirate.... Cant wait to hit the trails!!

I guess I'm one of the few that would rather be told I shouldn't run a trail. That way my conscience is clear that I'm not just being a wuss!

I need 35's? Ok, I'll do another run...

35s are not required on Holcomb. Just to be clear. At least 32's and that is pushing it.

With a little patience and good spotting you can get close to stock Jeeps through. Even those without lockers.

Thanks BillG.OTD--

Wife and I plan on attending this run and camp at the first-come spots of Hana Flats or elsewhere. I do live about an hour away, worst case is we have to drive home for the night.

It doesn't matter which trail we run as long as we have a good time, I'll play it by ear once there. I (with 33" tire) have run Holcomb not too long ago with little trouble. I know others with 33" tires and a 4 cylinder TJ have run JB, so I think I could run it with some friendly spotting as well.

So with Lorie and a few others also doing GM, thats puts the number at about 12. The JB run is looking rather empty. With Rick and I pulled out to do other trails, there is currently 3 in that run. I would have thought JB would have been more popular. Not everyone is signed up yet and Im sure there will be more....its a trail that a smaller group is probably preferable to a large one. It may also make it easier to hit another trail afterwards...Maybe everyone did JB last year? I wasnt there so I dont know....

I ran the JB last meet and greet and I thought this was full of takers this time around which is why I was going to run Gold Mountain with Jeff and then go off and do some other exploring. Things sure do have a way of changing.

We were going to to do the JB/Holcomb east to west run. Thought I saw something where one group was going west to east and the other east to west.

Is this still not the plan?

I am doing the Lightning Ridge run. Thats originally what I planned, I only changed because I thought we were short a trail leader. Delano & his Pop offered their services so I went back to LR. There all good!

I'm in for that.

Should definitely plan on running John Bull First. @ Base Camp, we can determine whether we want to do run JBull to GMountain or JBull E-W to Holcomb.

But the main run is John Bull regardless of which direction and optional second trail after.

Gold mtn would probably avoid traffic jams of running back to back trails with the larger group coming opposite. We should be through jb pretty quick, I'd think chances of the gold mtn group being clear are better then the Holcomb group. Just throwing it out, since it looks like us three.

4, he left me/us out. 4 is a good number IMO to run through those trails.

This next week is not going to go by fast enough.
