Looks like we're going to close Miller the same way we opened her. Cold! But no snow Thank God. The rain has moved to Saturday, but it's a low chance. Probably get a few drop if anything. We'll keep our eyes on it.

OH BTW, I forgot to mention Brandon will be coming and bringing his "Apple Cider". That'll help keep us warm

Ok guys..just hearing back form JP. Has to work his Birthday. Bummer! But, it looks like we're going to have a half a dozen rigs and around 12 people or so. Sounds like a party to me

Plan is to putt around some other trails first and then hit Miller.. It's gona be a little windy and cold, so bring warm clothes, extra blankets and lots of wood! We are for sure getting 59 minutes at work, so that puts me out of here at 230pm Friday and at camp before 430pm. If anyone wants to meet us at the flying J around 4pm, let me know!

Vanessa is trying to get the whole day off instead of half the day. This way we can get there early with our RV and find a spot suitable for an RV.

What time do you think you will be at the trailhead? Lynda and I might make it a day trip.

Bernie, you were right. We are going to close Miller the Exact way we opened her. SNOW. Are you freakin kidding me?? And yes, I know. It's picture time. Lorie's in 5 layers!!! I much prefer the tank and shorts

WOOD WOOD WOOD !

With the winds; temps are:

Days in the 30's and night will feel like the 20's. I am NOT happy about that especially with my heater motor blower for my Jeep sitting in my living room on the floor
2 weeks ago Calico was gorgeous. Mid 80's day, high 50'sat night and now we will go into shock..Yes..I am whining

See you our there buddy. Can't wait to see everybody!

Alright Scott, I was reading through the previous posts, and I'm pretty sure they'll be at the campground just above the Ranger Station. Good Luck.

Scott! So bummed you missed it! I told you we were staying at the chuchapete campground past the ranger station off Lockwood. I never said anything about Dutchman's.

Last night was freezing! It had to have gotten down in the teens. As a result, I froze and didn't get any sleep. It snowed and it was windy to boot. It's windy and freezing now. I decided not to suffer another night. Bernie and Vanessa are in their RV and Brandon, his g/f and another couple are sitting by the fire trying to stay warm. It's really cold.

We ran Miller with no troubles and it was a great day...but let's just say I'm glad to be home and warm right now. That weather there is for the birds.

No bueno.

Checking weather this morning there. Says 25 degrees but feels like 11 degrees b/c of the winds. It's no wonder I couldn't feel my feet yesterday morning; even with 2 sleeping bags and blankets.

Looks like you probably had company in your RV this morning Bernie

I can't wait to at least get heat back in my Jeep next weekend!!

Looking forward to going back to Calico!

You know we did--we were quite popular this weekend. Well at least our RV was. LOL

They said the morning was not too bad once the sun came out. You should have stayed with us in the warm RV even if you didn't wheel this morning. We went up to Sky Ranch and then to the watch tower...damn it was cold up there. There was plenty of snow on the floor up there compared to where we stayed.

Look forward to wheeling with you again my friend.

I'll try to post up the few videos this week that Vanessa took of the snow fall shortly after we got there.

I was already frozen from wheeling without heat all day.. There was no way I was going up to the top that night. Calico will be more normal. 60/40 day/night

It sounds like you just don't have the proper cold weather gear, Lorie. Those conditions really aren't that bad with the right stuff, but it does separate the girls from the boys though. Lol. I've never been able to get any female to join me on any of my snow camping trips.

I do. I just don't like cold weather. Never have since I was a kid. But wanted to wheel Miller one last time before they close her for 6-7 months. I don't normally do weather that cold. Just my preference.

Well I have to tell you, I am sooo glad my wife doesn't like tent camping because I would not do that much snow in a tent either. Even the bitter cold that we experienced this weekend I wouldn't do, regardless of the gear. Can't say I blame here when we wouldn't want to do it either--especially after wheeling without a heater in the Jeep--oh hell no.

But you wouldn't be freezing with the right gear, is the thing. You'd be nice and warm, maybe even toasty.

It's definitely not for everyone. Most guys I know actually wouldn't do it either. But I've also driven topless/doorless on the highway in 16° once, and in the 20's several times. Most people (male or female) wouldn't do that either. The heater doesn't do jack on the highway doorless. But with the proper gear, it's quite comfy.

My problem was no heat in my Jeep so I was just cold and stayed cold. It's how I'm wired. I'm actually not happy unless it's 75 degrees. I had 2 bags. A 5 degree bag and a 20 degree bag, blankets etc. I just stayed cold with the wind and no heat in the Jeep during the day. Once I'm cold, there's no warming up while I'm still out in the elements. And I stayed out in the elements. I wasn't doorless, so the heat would have helped out a lot actually.

I think my nose and ears would just break clean off if I did that... plus my man giblets would be lost as well--not good.
