I was thinking about a trip to Gorman / Hungry Valley before month end. I will make sure I PM when I ready to organize.

You could always go towards Big Bear, it is not that long of a drive.

I'm in Burbank, not too far from Sylmar. It seems there aren't a lot of WF folks in the SFV.

In general I think there is more activity towards Riverside and Big Bear than LA area. But then again there are more trails out that direction. Years back I used to roam all over Palos Verdes but as growth goes on people don't like you driving in their back yards.

And here in Burbank, Jay Leno with a different open-top old-model collectable car every time I see him.

It usually opens up again in spring or summer. Call the Mt. Pinos ranger to check.

I am hoping to see in any San Fernano Valley Jeepers want to do a Death Valley trip before it gets too hot. Start by doing Titus Canyon, head over to crankshaft juction, spend the night t Eureka Dunes, next morning cross steel pass and settle at the springs for second night. Wake up and cross saline valley and end up in hwy 190 to close out the weekend. Any one interested, needs to be soon.

The roughest trail will be Eureka dunes to Steel Pass because of the sand, but nothing 4low can't get you out of. Once you start Steel Pass the road gets technical but i you go slow it is manageable. I can tell you last time I did it it was 45 degrees outside and I was sweating - you have to go slow and constantly maneuver. This, I think makes It fun. Once you go past the springs you are mostly dealing with a lot of rut, still slow but not very technical. This continues until you reach lippincot pass and saline valley road. From there on you start to climb into the pass that gets you to hwy 190. The entire loop is doable but it helps to have company for contingency , I.e flats, etc.

As far as gas, yo will burn through some. It's easy to calculate the usage from the SF valley to Beatty nevada wher you fill up and take a 5 gallon Jerry can can to get you through Titus, crankshaft junction, eureka dunes, past steel pass and into 190.
Hope this helps, let me know.

Ok, I dont know how to repost... One other thing to consider, that is mothers day weekend. I am still in if you are. As far as reposting if you can repost great, or send me instructions and I will gladly do it...newb...

I am pretty easy going , no BS, willing to cook if we split cost of agreed upon meals or we each manage our own, like I said easy going...

Thanks for offering to repost, call it Death Valley Triple Pass. Figure it fits considering we are crossing Titus, Crankshaft and Steel Pass. I am good to go, will ask for that Friday off. Recommend we leave by 7 or 8 am so we have time to cross Titus and decide if we camp ant Mesquite or head out to Eureka.
