Beginner Run 11/19 near IE

Who's up for a beginner run on Saturday? I'm looking to go somewhere close to the IE (Inland Empire). I'm near Riverside.

I'd like to meet somewhere around 1:30 PM or so, ride for a few hours.

Morton Peak is always an option. I'm open to other suggestions.

Depending on how rugged you want, Cleghorn is always a fun run. You can do the whole thing in 2 wheel drive if you stick to the main fire road, or take the bypasses and make a lot more fun. That is one of my favorite trails.

I'd love to go, but don't have that much time on Saturday. I looked up Miller and it would be 4.5 hours round trip just to the rally point. I only have about a 5 hour window that I can be gone that day.

That might be a possibility. Looks like Cleghorn is about 90 minutes away? Might still be too far for the time I have.

I can get to Cleghorn from Mo Val in like 45 minutes. Travel time on the trail can go from hour or so or most of the day depending on if you stop to enjoy the sights or have a lunch or whatever.

Ok, yeah, I was putting in the address for the ranger station. I looked at the map, looks really close.

I definitely need to check it out if it's only 45 min away! You down for Saturday?

Possibly, I need to take care of a couple of things on the home front, but I will let you know.

I may be interested in a couple hours of some fun up at Cleghorn. I was thinking of going to the Miller Jeep run Saturday but being that Thanksgiving is next week and I am going to be gone for that I am limited on time so being gone all day Sat is not a good option. I will see what becomes of this. Jeff, post up if you are going or not.

The Cleghorn trails are some of my favs and close by the IE. I usually enter on the south side of Lake Silverwood and head up from there. It has a great view are of the lake from the top. You can take that trail all the way to big Bear (with the right equipment) I am taking the day off to go jeepin tomorrow, but may be up for meeting you there on Saturday.

I actually posted a pic from the other side of the lake from Cleghorn. Its from the Miller Canyon trail 2n37 and Cleghorn (2n49 i think) is on the other end of the lake, but they are not far from each other.

Count me in for Cleghorn on Saturday. I am doing a 6 day work week and I need the distraction. So is the plan for 1:00 at the Cleghorn exit?

I could do 1:00 PM, or 11:30 at the earliest. What works for you (and others interested)?

1:00 it is then!

Jeff - you mentioned meeting at the exit. Is there somewhere right at the exit, or should we meet some place specific?

I can't wait!!

At the exit works great. There is a decent area to stage right at the trail head just as you exit, gives a great area for anyone needing to air down or disconnect sway bars or any other pre run needs.

Sounds good, I think I can make it. I had a great day in Big Bear and came back from John Bull in one piece.

Excellent!!!
I'll stop at 15/Summit (just north of the 215) There is a place to get a burrito.
El Ranchero Restaurant‎
15218 Summit Ave # 500
Fontana, CA 92336-0237
You can see it just off to the east as you come around the North Bound Off ramp.

I'll be there at noon-ish and then at the Cleghorn Exit off the 15 at 1pm.
Hungry? I'll see ya there ~noon

There is a gas station at the next exit, like 1 mile up. Also a couple of places to grab a bite to eat if wanting to. See y'all at the trail head.

Hey Rubi, are you bringing your daughter on this run? She seems to be the motivator to get you going on the bigger stuff, haha.

Thanks for all that made it to Cleghorn today! It was definitely a learning, adrenaline filled day. Lots of white knuckled fun. Thank you all for the encouragement and patience.

This was my first 'real' off road driving experience. Glad to have some experienced drivers to direct the action and help bust my off road cherry.

I was impressed with what a 100% stock JKU Sport can handle.

My new shopping list:
Air down valve
Air compressor
Rims & Tires
CB
Rails

I had a great time too. Thanks to all... 530KTM, TurdHurd, BillG, and to Suicideking for co-ordinating the ride. I had the GPS on and I'll upload a track and some Chotos soon.

Cheers to another great wheelin adventure!
