best Trails and Camping?

Hey everyone I have lived in So Cal for 3 years now due to being stationed at camp Pendleton and just recently got the money to get a 2001 jeep wrangler. I really want to go trail driving, camp out then drive back down on a weekend but dont know where to go. any good trails and camp sites around big bear i should know about?

Just stay tuned here- once it warms up there will be runs galore. Plenty of trails- John Bull, Holcomb, Gold Mountain etc. Crab Flats is a good one for winter if you can't wait til then. Hannah Flats is an excellent campsite- but many others up there.
Consider the Meet N Greet at Calico coming up in March. Many of the same people attending are the Big Bear crowd- so you'll get plenty of yakin' about where to go in Big Bear.

Since it is now officially winter here in So Cal, this is the time to go wheeling in the desert areas (Calico, Stoddard Wells, Johnson Valley, etc.). Big Bear is better when the snow is gone. Don't get me wrong, it is fun in the snow too, but more passable (especially if you are rock crawling), when you can see those rocks. Welcome aboard!
