Just FYI, according to the SBNF trail system, a black diamond trail has to have a line that is passable for a rig with 31" tires and at least 1 locker. Excessive body damage taken while getting through the obstacle is considered passable

With that said, I wouldn't recommend a stock height Jeep to try dishpan or John Bull unless you have some kind of skidplates. Even with your stock skidplate, the oil pan is an easy target. I'd recommend some type of engine skid to cover it, and your transmission. Under Cover Fab and Rokmen both make nice ones. I personally run the UCF 1/4" aluminum engine skid bolted to my stock '06 shovel. It's saved me more than once, and although you lose some clearance (unless you do a belly up/tummy tuck skid) it actually acts as a ramp and eliminates hang ups.

John Bull run = large boulders and certain death. The entrance is literally boulders the size of VW bugs and chunks of twisted metal from people trying to get up it (as of 12/2010).

I have been wanting to do john bull for a long time. I will most likely be ready in july as well. I'm regearing and getting a locker. I just want a skid to be safe.

CD or CB? Are you looking for one or are you suggesting we get one? just trying to be clear what you're saying.

If i remember correctly, Jeff (turdhurdler), mentioned splitting the meet and greet in july/august into two groups when we head out to the trails. He said this because not all of the rigs/drivers there will be ready for a john bull run. So I am hoping that there will be a reasonable size group that wants to run John bull. I am sure Jerry will be up for it, and I think I remember Armand mentioning that he would like to run it as well.

It sure does. One call and everyone hears the same thing. Really helpful and not that expensive.
I would recommend it to anyone reading this here input.

Yup, haven't done John Bull yet, but it's definitely high on my list.

Most at the last M&G had a CB radio (and and CD radio ). I highly recommend having a CB radio as well.

I just got talked into leading a trip through John Bull for my club (since I have at least been over JB's Gate Keeper and no one else going has even seen JB) the end of this month. I kinda doubt now that I'm leading a club run this month that my gatekeeper (wife) will be willing to let me spend the extra $$$ to do it again next month too. If things go better $$$-wise (going for a new job) by then I'll be able to make it. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I was speaking for the next meet and greet in July or August. My understanding is they wont be running it in May. Do you think you will be making it out July or August?

Oh sorry, the pace of the conversation made me think it was getting close/May. By July or August I'm sure I'll be able to get permission from the Gatekeeper.
