Big Bear Meet & Greet July 27th -29th

Okay so here is the list of Trails for 7th Semi Annual So Cal WF Meet n Greet; A Turdhurdler Event. Along with your input, Jeff has selected the following trails. Gold Mountain - Jeff will be leading, John Bull TBD and Holcomb Creek TBD. I have also included a box for other in case you want to suggest something else. This is just to get an idea of who is running each trail so we can determine how many trails to include and who will lead them. It is a public poll so that you can all see who is attending.

I'm doing either Holcomb or Gold Mountain. I'll hold off on voting probably until after June 9th. I'm running Gold Mountain that day so will decide after that which one I want to do a second time.

No problem, we appreciate you setting these up. There are 21 people signed up so far, so it should be another success. Maybe we can get each group down to 6-8 jeeps to make it go smoother...

Thanks for setting up this poll Bill.

Other - I would like to run an advanced group through Dishpan Springs from Lake Arrowhead and then through Deep Creek (Holcomb Creek) to end back up at base camp.

Okay, That is a nice run. Since Dishpan is harder than Holcomb, we can either add that as a separate run or extend the current Holcomb run. If your going to do that than I will run John Bull. Now to see if I can change the poll...

No, not really. I dont really care which one I run. Coop & I ran Dishpan and then Holcomb (backwards) the week before last. That is a great combo run. I was just trying to make sure we had someone to lead each of the groups and so far that was Jeff, you and I.

I will do the J B or Gold Mountain, depending on who is my passenger for the day. May take the scenic Gold Mountain and then putt around the area site seeing.

Gotcha! I talked to my Old Man and he said that he wants to run John Bull...

Since he just got his 6" Long Arm with Coilovers dialed in he wants to show me up on the gate....

Sigh!

Just wanting to bring this up to the top for people who have recently signed up for the Meet n Greet is case they did not see the proposed trails/difficulty of what we plan on doing.

Okay so looking at the past comments on adding a double trail run including Holcomb and John Bull, I have Pluke + Pops, Cons Table, Jerry B?, Kota 7 that showed interest.

Let me know if that's correct. I can have a mod change the last trail in the poll to reflect the two trails and keep John Bull as a single trail run. That should spead it out some as well. Remember this is only to get a general idea of who wants to run what so we can be somewhat organized and have enough trail leaders.

The trail leaders that have volunteered so far are Pluke, Turdhurdler & myself. If I have missed anyone, let me know.

I picked John Bull, but if there was a JB and Holcomb run, I'd pick that one.

may i suggest if we do JB + holcomb we get an earlier than usual start to try to beat the crowds of summertime wheeling in big bear, at least for the first trail...

i saw a post that there were 39 jeeps on john bull last weekend, and a group of 9 hummers that were on the trail all day....

That is always a problem on these trails, or any trails to be more accurate. You can get a bunch of vehicles jamming the trails and what should be a nice wheeling experience turns into hours of waiting and frustration.

Plus, especially with JB, some people don't realize there are other trails in Big Bear. Everyone wants to do JB because it's the most difficult. That combined with the difficulty level, makes it one of the most crowded.

Thats part of the reason I am trying to get us spread out on a few trails. I didnt want us to have 10 + jeeps hitting any one trail. Its a moving target though 2 difficult trails on one day is doable depending on the group....and size. We saw alot more activity up there last weekend as well....

Just wanted to clarify: The Holcomb run is also doing John Bull? I may have mis-read, thought it was just a Holcomb run.

Maybe some sort of moderate to advanced run would be good? Like Holcomb and another similarly difficult run?
