Brake Parts Tester needed SoCal

I need a brake parts tester in the Menifee/Temecula/Lake Elsinore area.

You can be further away, but I need someone who has the following requirements well in hand and is willing to do some testing.

Daily Driven TJ reasonably well maintained
35" tires, auto preferred
Stock Braking system with any brake pads and rotors installed.
Willing to report as often as needed or necessary to keep me updated as to performance and characteristics.

If you don't understand or want to learn the differences between cold bite, initial bite, time to do work, hot fade, brake judder, pedal height at onset, and similar, it's probably best if you bow out of this one.

At the end of testing, you get to keep any of the parts that were tested or I'll credit you with a serious discount towards a bigger brake kit.

Each set of parts will be tested for about 2 weeks or so and then we'll have you swing by to do a swap and start off on another set-up.

You won't know what you're testing to keep bias to a minimum. I've done these tests many times and the only way to keep it accurate enough to have any value is for it to be blind testing. I also tend to try and confuse you to keep it fair and will install the same parts back to back or install them with a single test sample in between them. Also gives me an idea of how accurate your reporting is.

Any takers?

Did you overlook that part somehow?

I would be interested in testing brakes with you. I am in Corona, but my set up is different than what your preference is. I have a 2002 sport, 5 speed with 33" tires. Brakes are original.

Please let me know if you ever need a JKU on 35's. Brakes are on my 'to do' list before 37's.

I would prefer someone with an auto if I have a choice and I may not, but it would be the preference. Folks with manuals tend to be less than forthcoming about the use of downshifting to slow down and it creates skewed results on brake testing. I will keep you in mind if you are okay with the commute to the Lake Elsinore area.

Are you serious? If you are, I do have need of a tester for some JK brake parts. Previous requirements are still in play. Good communication is key if you can pull that off alright?

You can be further but it then becomes your decision to make the drive when I need to see you and your decision to make the drive when I need to change parts. After the thanks but no thanks part, I think you've made the correct decision and I do appreciate it.

Lake Elsinore is not a problem from Corona for me. Keep me in Mind. Most of the daily driving is stop and go traffic so the brakes would get a workout. I downshift only when needed and primarily use brakes. Keep me in mind when you make your decision. Thanks.

Alright, give me an evaluation of your current braking and let's see where it goes.

My daily commute takes me from Riverside to Menifee 5 days per week. 215 fwy (stop & go from Adams to 14th St.) then fairly open rest of the way. Van Buren Blvd (stop and go) all the way from 215 to California St. area. I take the Jeep on runs with the Jeep loaded down with lots of gear. Brake pads have about 1 year of use on them w/original discs - 140,000 miles on odometer. I don't panic stop, but when it has happened in the past, the brakes do lock up, making the dogs bark loud. The Jeep doesn't stop as promptly as it did when I was running 31" OEM Goodyears, but that is to be expected. When really loaded down with heavy gear, I drive it under 60 mph at all times, and I observe all posted speed limits on surface streets. No following closely, but when I get cut off, I back off to help cars in front of me avoid damage from heavy Smittybilt bumper and winch.

Did you know your windows don't match your top?

You are the most promising candidate for the TJ side of this so far.

My windows are 30% tint - my windshield 0% - all 3 with 100% UV-A, UV-B coating. The 30% was the lowest in tint that I could go (at the time).

My Jeep does get loaded down with camping gear.LOL Even the Chihuahuas go along for the ride..
