Brett's Calico Birthday Run Oct. 4-6

As the title says I'll be running Calico for my birthday this year!

Date: October 4th-6th

Location/Directions: 36600 Ghost Town Road Yermo, CA 92398

To all of my friends we'll be camping in our normal spot.

For those of you who have not been with us before to get to our campsite go 100 yards past the Ghost Town. Doran Scenic Rd is on the left. You’ll see the triangular looking ranger sign encased in glass. Make that left and keep going straight down the dirt road, you'll run right into us. We're going to camp off Doran Scenic Rd before you go around the bend to the Gatekeeper. It's dry camping. We'll be running all major trails! There's also a potential you'll get to see me flop on Gatekeeper! (depending on if I trailer out)

Rig Requirements - Tow points, armor/sliders are recomended, lifted, at least 31's. Lockers are not required but as we all know they can be useful in a few spots.

At this point I will probably be getting there sometime in the afternoon unless I manage to get the day off. There's a chance that I'll be staying until Monday, but we'll see what happens.

Who's Going -
1. Brett - YjKalamity
2. Lorie - I H8RDS
3. Zombiehunta666 - Saturday
4. XJ_Phil - Saturday

I imagine we'll both get there around the same time. I do plan on bugging out of work as early as I can though!

I definitely wouldn't mind leading, I know the trails well enough to not get us lost. I even know this really cool offshoot

One great perk about this job... I can pretty much take leave when I want. Even though I'm not happy, I do appreciate what I do have. B-)

I was thinking about going, but when it comes down to it I'd much rather wheel!

As long as I'm on the trail, I'm good with missing the expo. Besides, I can't afford anything right now. And when I'm ready, I'll just have you order it. Lol

I wish I could say I'm done spending money on parts for a while. I "need" to spend another ~1200 before I take it easy for a while. I also just took a decent chunk out of my parts fund to buy a new welder today, but I needed it so I can finish up my axle this weekend Not to mention my boss said he'll pay for me to weld at the shop whenever we need it, and I'll never complain about more $$$!

I need to pay off this build I just completed. Goal is by the end of the year. But in the meantime, I'll wheel BB, CB, Calico and Miller.

I just have to finish paying off my tires. I'll probably have everything "completely" built in 6 months or so. The only thing I'm held up on right now is what I want to do with my front axle. I think I'll eventually go up to 37s so I'm thinking of getting an HP44 or D60 for the front and just shafting my 8.8.

You'll end up being bored with the stuff we all do rolling on 37's.

You're not planning on rolling with 37's as a DD right?

I probably won't move up until I have her paid off (knock on wood). It really just depends on what happens the next few months. If I end up working with Jacobs Uncle then I should have no problems building however I want, and at that point it won't matter what my DD is. Either way I plan on wheeling the crap out of these 35s. I guess we'll just have to see what happens!

Going to 37s or 40s doesnt make it boring, it makes you look at the harder lines and bigger rocks to crawl on.
And having those tires on your DD is great, more fun to drive. Mine with 40s is a DD, love it!

Lorenzo had the death wobble going on but it's recently out of the shop and on new shoes. I'll let him know about this run and see if he wants to come. It's been a while for him in calico.

I'm not going to gear it any lower than 4.88's or go bigger than 35's when I have to drive 3.5 hours one way to get to the trails on a 4 banger engine..and also make it to work and back every day. That set up doesn't work for me logically or economically.

That's what you were say about 35s and 488s a year ago when you were on 33s and 456s..lol
