You'll like it. It's fun running the canyons.

Awe man, I don't like rocks stacked up there. I prefer more pucker factor, because it's really more of a mind screw than anything else. It's not as bad as it looks as long as you don't do anything stupid like floor it.

Perfect timing on that video....we were talking about that guy...crazy! I'm not sure who put the rocks up, but it takes some time!

And it cracks me up listening to the audio where the guy afterwards says, "This is what I researched. That's exactly how you have to do it." Lol! Scary this guy's teaching people to do that.

Dang Yomando, you make The Gatekeeper sound doable again. That last day we were all there a couple months ago, I dunno, was it just that it was cloudy that made it look so forboding? I've done the gatekeeper 4-5 times but thought it looked pretty impassable that last time I saw it. Especially after a friend said he has broken serious stuff the last two times he did the gatekeeper in Doran Canyon... who by the way is Gerald Lee who won the Everyman event at the 2012 King of the Hammers and his rigs are all extremely well built. He isn't known for finesse though, maybe he just tried hammering it too much?

Is that picture of the gatekeeper in post #1 recent?

It's doable Jerry, but it HAS gotten more difficult compared to years ago from what I hear. Those gatekeeper photos were taken a little over a year ago. I felt like I could have done it at that time, with the guys I had there to spot me through, but we were running out of daylight so I passed, and now I regret it. There are few people I can trust to spot me through the Doran Gatekeeper, but I want to do it. It won't be on this upcoming run though because I'll have my hardtop on and I don't want to risk breaking it. Those things are expensive.

I'd like to make this as I've never been to Calico in the Jeep and have been itching to. It doesn't look like there are very many tough spots in videos I've seen.

Not that it is a bad thing. Makes it one of the highlights of the trip.
Watched a you Tube vid last night. A group of Armeinian Wheelers called Hye Crawlers, spent about an hour stacking, so a Grand Cherokee could get buy without tipping, it was overloaded..

Looking like a day trip. It will be for me at least. BTW the Calico Ghost Town campground looks pretty busy that weekend.

Calico is a lot of fun. After going Saturday, makes me want to go back for more.

JPI is doing my fenders tomorrow so it will be nice to finally not have so much rubbing.

Think I will wash my Jeep for this event. No poking fun at the "clean" Jeep.

Well it did get washed. Appears there is wetness out there this morning. The bride may "force" me to take her wheeling today on a local run. But these are the sacrifices we make to keep the ones we love happy.

I know, I know, rough life I got here. ;-)
