Hey is anyone thinking they might want to do the gatekeeper? If not, we may have enough time to squeeze in the side trip to Wall Street Canyon Overlook, if there's interest and depending on how long it takes us to get up Doran Canyon. Think about it. We'll get a consensus from the group on the day of the run.

Sorry guys, I have to back out of this one. I don't feel my jeep is up to the task this time. Gotta get some lockers!

Keith (kboucher) may still be heading out there.

Next time!

We've gotten lots of folks through without lockers.

I'm open Diffs, and I rarely need a strap at Calico. Just saying.

We had a guy do it a week ago on open diffs. He didn't stuggle at all.

I did struggle a year ago. I was on 33's and more of a noob though.

I would say armor is more important.

I'd also be up for Wall Street. If someone wants to run Gatekeeper, that would be fun to watch too though.

I want to go so bad. My wife is willing to come and we have grandma babysitting. I'm just concerned about the 2 hour drive to get there...

Looks like it going to be a good group and I want to try out my new tires, tube fenders, and locker!

I need some motivation!! So scared of the pass up to Victorville (Cajon I think its spelled).

Come on out! What's scary about the Cajon pass? It's a bit of a drive, but it's worth it!

What locker did you get, and what size tires?

I put an Aussie Locker in my front D30 which was honestly the best upgrade I have done for the $$ (well maybe it rivals the new steering bits I got from a ZJ, tie rod and ends for $70 our the door )

I put 35" General Grabbers which look wicked cool with the red letters too! My jeep is so much better now than when I wheeled with you at Cleghorn

The Cajon Pass isnt scary in my other cars, but my '97 with a ton of miles, stock 3.55 gearing, and 35's makes me nervous. I think I would have to be in 2nd gear going up that bad boy

I really want to come and probably will. Last time I was at Calico a guy in our group thought Gatekeeper would be a great first obstacle. Needless to say we spent 8 hours at the Gatekeeper trying to fix his rainbowed steering rod. After taking it off, going into town to buy another, installing the new rod he fired up the jeep and it rainbowed again instantly. It was fun wrenching on his jeep for 8 hours but I didnt get to see any of Calico...

Yeah, that might be fun going up the pass.

You should try to make it though. Sounds like your rig is ready. Just stay away from the gatekeeper so you don't end up like your buddy.

Let me know if I should add you to the list. No promises on Wall Street at this point, but we'll do it if everyone's game.

No interest in the gate keeper, will watch but don't want to spend the day there. We normally do it at the end, that way those that are not interested in hanging out, can get on with their day.

Wall Street, never been. We are in for that.

That was me, I think Rick is referring to.
Rick is right, armor and a proper lift is fine and more important than lockers. I do however have limited slip in the rear and open in the front. You should be fine with good lines and proper spotting.

Yeah, Joe. You're the one I was referring to. I was impressed that you didn't seem to struggle at all.

He was the only one of us 5 that didn't have a locker.

I have gone through with no lockers and know a few Sports and such that have done it with no lockers. Only thing I would highly suggest for this trail are rock rails. Sometimes ascending these waterfalls you slip and slide.

Now for the weather, am hoping this storm front dumps some moisture out there. Keep the dust down and add some challenge to the waterfalls.

Yup, I listed rock rails as required in the first post. I slid and gave my rock rail a good smack going up Odessa waterfall a while back.

The currently weather forecast isn't showing any precipitation for the area.
