I haven't been back to Calico since that weekend last March, and I'm dying to get back, but after the upcoming 12/1 run I won't be available again until after the holidays, probably 2nd weekend in January.

We also want to get a run organized to Parker, Az. The trails out there are incredible!

I'm in the process of planning one for next April. Dates are already set. 4/18 tour Route 66 west to east from Victorville to Needles, then stay overnight at the Avi Resort & Casino in Laughlin. 4/19-4/21 Mojave Road east to west. The Mojave Road is a very dusty road. Personally I wouldn't want to run it topless/doorless, even if leading. Also because of parking it at the hotel overnight with all the gear back there.

Sounds good to me. I just hate that my job only gives me every third weekend off. And it's that slow time of the year in sales, at least until after the new year. Then I can start making real plans. You know?

I'll only need a day or two off to do that run. I'm a tentative in for now. I'll know for sure as it gets closer. Like a month before.

It can certainly be done in a day or two, but I don't like rushing through there. There's too much to soak in and enjoy. For me it's all about being there, not just going through.

I agree. The springs, the mailbox, and the cinder cones are all cool places to spend an hour or two. I wouldn't want to rush it either.

The Mojave Road is definitely on my to-do before I get stationed somewhere else ...

I'm heading to Calico tomorrow ... last minute for fun. I'm actually just gonna toot around Phillips then head to the back to Wall Street and explore back behind everything ... I'll let y'all know if I find anything interesting.

Never been on those trails, something always comes up that I can't make the runs.

Always up for an extra while out there. One of the guys is in a stock rubi so, have to be able to get them through.

So it appears that it will be all hands on deck at the dealership this weekend. The lifers aren't cutting us any slack. They're saying its going to be busy, when historically it isn't. Black Friday means nothing in auto sales. People are out buying 50% off TV's and such. And you'll never find 50% off on a new Wrangler. So what's the point. GRRR!!!! Sorry Fellas, but unless you want to come buy a new Jeep from me Friday, or Saturday so I can justify telling my boss to get bent, it looks like I'll be working Sunday.

Have you done Phillips Loop? It's short and easy but still fun ... would be a good "warm up" for Doran or a way to waste an hour ... the hardest obstacle on Phillips is like the first boulder field on Odessa Canyon ... the rest is too easy just some old pavement like Odessa ... Run it clockwise and stop off at Kramer's Arch ... I went through in a stock Sahara no problem ... so a stock Rubi can make it easy ... I just scraped my belly in one spot but I didn't have a spotter

If you do Phillips ... take the cut that goes from Odessa to Phillips ... it's wicked fun ... like a roller coaster

I live only about 30 minutes from Calico. It's actually the closest place to wheel for me. I'm just out of commission for a bit given my tire situation.

Here are some GPS tracks if you want to check them out while you're out there ...

Odessa/Phillips cut:

Kramer's Arch 34.950990 -116.843258:
