Camping near Santa Rosa

going with some friends and the kids and I'm looking for a good camp spot.
Doesn't need to be a off orad park but a nice trail off the beaten path would be great. My buddies got an AWD volvo SUV so the trails need to be mellow.

Any Suggestions?

Nothing near Santa Rosa. Cow Mt. About an hour north, but wouldn't camp there. Look in clear lake area. I will post so nice easy trails for that area when I get home.

Here's a nice easy trail. It's about an hour or so north of Santa Rosa.

Indian Valley/Walker Ridge, Ukiah Field Office, Bureau of Land Management California

Lots of trails in this area that can all be done in 2wd. When are you planning to come up?

We were thinking about this weekend.

My buddy is pushing for Bullfrog Pond.

Thanks for the location. If not this trip than the next one.

What about Stony ford? Used to go there as a kid.

Might get some rain Friday night and Saturday this weekend. You should camp with us on the Lost Coast run on the 28th.

I'd ove to do the lost coast trip. Unfortunately I'm having a hard time convincing he better half.

She hesitant to meet up with a bunch of strangers. She's kind of shy.
I might push for meeting up and going to the beach and hen camping separately.
At that point I might be ale to swing a trail with the group.

She's a tough sell sometimes ;-)

Can't blame her. After all, you don't know any of us. Funny thing is, when I started doing these runs, the very first one I did, 27 jeeps showed up, of which about 20 of them were complete strangers. Yet, they blindly followed along. Crazy! I could've been an ax murderer for all they knew, lol! Oh, btw, I'm not an ax murderer. No really, I wouldn't lie to you about this!

Seriously though, if your better half is concerned we're all a bunch of ax murderers, you could always just come up for the day Saturday and meet us at Blue's Beach or Usal Beach for lunch and maybe get to know our group. You'll see we are all a bunch of good jeeple.

X2 .. Started out as strangers and now we are very good friends. There is a reason I go to runs with these guys even though they are like 3 plus hours 1 way ... goes the other way around as well ... JimBob drove 4+ hours 1 way just do a day run at Hollister with 2 other Jeeps.

My wife does not like strangers either but these guys are like family now!

Don't listen... they are all crazy!!! Muuaahahaaahaaahaaa (evil laugh).

Great group of Jeepers for sure, I would follow that group through any trail. My wife thought I was crazy when I went on my first run with these guys, so she upped the life insurance before the run.... hahahaha, true story . I think I had 127 miles on the Jeep completely stock when I met these guys and now I have 10K miles, mostly off roading with these guys, and I am far from stock now.

Ooops, sorry,

Have a great trip and post pics if you get a chance!
