Camping suggestions near San Diego?

Hey guys, my wife and I are going to head out the Sunday/Monday of Labor Day weekend, primarily for some camping since it's been a while, but it wouldn't hurt to have a nice long drive up a trail to get there. Any ideas?

Desert is out due to heat, and we've been to Palomar and Idyllwild, and we'd prefer to go someplace more primitive and secluded. Toilets/running water not required. Flat earth to pitch the tent and a good ride to get there is all we need.

Any suggestions appreciated!

Yes, our Wrangler is named after a Cherokee... The original "Rokee" was a 1997 Cherokee Country. It solidified Jeep's permanent spot in our family.
