Moving from VA to San Diego near mid November, any tips I should know upon arrival?

Yes. Check the guns laws REAL CAREFULLY. If you have any, make sure they are legal and register the ones that have to be registered. Find out if the stories about Japanese radiation from Fukushima is true (I don't know). Be sure to look at the tax laws there and see what new tax laws might be voted in. I see they have an economy (and government deficits) that rival several nations.

You are leaving one of the most highly regulated states in the country. As left-wing as California's state leadership is here, you will still feel like you have died and gone to heaven out here... especially in San Diego. Not to mention we have bi-annual smog inspections but no vehicle inspections!

You'll also be within a short driving distance of some of the very best wide-open wheeling in the U.S. The surrounding deserts and mountains have more trails of all levels than you'll ever be able to do in several lifetimes.

You'll dig SD!
