I like your trip up Elk first, go down into Lake Pillsbury, come out in Potter Valley, head to Ukiah and then finish up in Cow. That could be a great day. What do everyone think of this?

We could meet at the Chevron in Upper Lake. From there I can lead us up to High Glade Lookout where I bet we'd get a good look at the carnage from the Mills fire. From there we traverse the ridgeline into Deer Valley Campground and then on to the the top of Elk Mt. Continue on down into Lake Pillsbury and then head into Potter Valley and back onto Hwy 101 to Ukiah. Top off in Ukiah and then head up to Cow for some more fun in the dirt. Bring your dirt appetite, cause you'll be eating a lot of it!
This suggestion should eat up about 6hrs start to finish, give or take.

It's a 2 hr drive or so from Petaluma. For you guys in the Vallejo area it's the same but taking hwy 29. For ppl in the east bay it'll take you 2:30 hrs and you can meet the Vallejo ppl too. Sac ppl it's just over 2 hrs.

Jimbob if you could do you think you would be able to stop at
District Ranger
10025 Elk Mountain Road
Upper Lake, California 95485
to get some maps of the area. They should have paper ones that are free. Plus if you could get a real map I'll pay you back on Sat.
Thanks.

so, 0900 at Chevron in Upper Lake?
From my house it's 2h 15m to get there. If anyone wants to caravan from Vallejo area, the meeting spot will be the same as last time. Starbucks in American Canyon at 0630.

The Chevron is at the intersection of Hwy 20 and Hwy 29 in UpperLake. There is also a Carl's Jr. in the same building.

Hrmmmm I'm kinda undecided now. I'm thinking about just hiding indoors from the heat all weekend (going to be like 104 everywhere).
