Right on Brother. I'll keep you updated. I can't believe I broke it on Cleghorn. It's always the easier trails that extract the most carnage. Lol

lol i'm getting there ... lately I've been taking things apart to try to figure out how to put it together or mod it myself ... my latest are homemade quick discos ... next I take apart my differentials so I can eventually regear it ... I want 4.56s ... if only I knew how to weld I'd be really dangerous

got an extra limited slip (Grand Cherokee) rear dif laying around? That would put me into that "dangerous" bracket too. I've been keeping up with an open dif for over ten years now. I'd be one happy camper if I got actual traction from behind.

Biggest problem right now is that our budget has Christmas tags attached all over it for another month or so. The magic word for today is CHEAP, CHEAP, CHEAP!!!

Not really that wild. Got to the first hill, spun tires, got traction, Boom. But I just talked to my mechanic from work, and he says we'll get it covered. Thank God for a good working relationship with my mechanic.

If I can get those nice AAA people to get my Jeep out to Hellindale, can you do the repair? If so, can you give me a shoot from the hip guesstimate on what you would charge? We are in Christmas budget mode right now, so funds are at an absolute minimum. Thanx, Phil

Do you have the time and inclination to install it for me too? Again (if so), how much and how long to do it? I'm sort of disabled, so I would be little or no help with much of anything short of handing you tools.

Can you send a private message to my email address of PhilAllenInvestigations@Verizon.Net? Don't let that investigations thing freak you out. I am not (nor have I ever been) a member of any law enforcement agency. Mostly what I investigate is personal injury auto accidents. A friend of mine does defense work for the auto manufacturere and sends me spin off work from them. LOL

Maybe we can do some horse tradin. I've got 2 or 3 automatic transmissions (from 88 or 89 Cherokees) and a transfer case from a 92 (with that full time 4 wheel, drive in the rain thingy), that I was told is maybe not too desirable, but funtional. I've also got a few front and rear difs is various stages of disassembly. The one thing I have in all of those things, is an almost freshly rebuilt 4.0 that was in my first Jeep before I drove it into an open mine shaft out in Stoddard Wells.

I've known welders, that can't even tie their own shoes. I'd guess with a half an hour of proper instruction and a couple hours of practice, you'd be welding like a pro.

It sat in my buddies back yard for almost 3 years before he pulled the engine, tranny, rear dif (already raped), and a few other parts, then cut it into little pieces to be recycled. What do you need? If I've still got it, it's yours.

By the way, if that hole would have been 2 or 3 feet wider, we wouldn't be here chattin about it. I would have gone nose first and crushed my skull.

Hmmmm. I'm sure my pal with his auto repair business garage (where all those trannys and other extra stuff is now), would be tickled to see it move to your place. I've probably got 8 or 10 stock, 15" Jeep rims, and a variety of accessories that you could add to your inventory. I think we might have one of those rare situations where everybody might end up happy with the outcome (with the possible exception of maybe your wife). If you can give me a hand with that rear dif fix, I'll be happy to share pretty much everything I've got to further your cause. What do you think?

By the way.......you should see that hole now. BLM spent several thousands of our tax dollars wrapping it up with cement, steel gurders, and a cable fence around it so some other dummy doesn't do the same thing. I was told I could have made a claim for all of the damages (and then some) because it was dangerous and on the trail. But, I didn't see much point in that. My boy and I got home safe and even though it was pretty much wasted, that Jeep is only stuff. It could be (and was) replaced.

I have been to Rigdecrest a few times (with my car) and looking around in almost every direction, thinking there must be some great wheelin up this way, but never had any clue where to go or how to get there, and never taken the Jeep. I can show you pretty much any trail within a 50 mile radius of Victorville (any time you want to come down this way). Maybe we can hook up for a day trip up your way in the not too distant future. Do they mark them the same up there as Green, Blue, and Black Diamond trails? Do you have plenty of each?

Just throwing this out there ... I am going to start planning a trip to St. George in the first weekend of April ... Anyone who wants to head out there with me is more than welcome!
