Desert Splash - 2012 video

With all the rain expected this week, I thought this might be a good time to post this. It's a video slide show of our time at the 2012 Desert Splash in Parker, AZ. Don't bother trying to watch it on a moble phone. You Tube has restricted that due to copyright issues.

We used to go stay at Black Meadows Landing and go to the Desert Bar every thanksgiving. It looks like you were close to both of those locations. We didn't get to go this year

Desert Splash was really a great event. It was very well organized. They had over 15 different runs to choose from. In the registration room, they had all the runs listed in order by difficultly. Each run was displayed on a poster board with the trail description and pictures. If you needed further info, they had ride leaders available to answer any questions about the trails. During the event I was able to sign up for three runs. They had all the runs rated from 1 (easy) to 5+(hardest). I did one 3+ trail and two 4 trails. On the runs they offered all the help you needed. The spotter I used was excellent! As always, the vid makes everything look so easy. Both the 4 rated trails I did were much harder than John Bull and Mottino Wash. No way could I have done these trails without spotting. The spotters knew the lines and had a ton of patience’s. The JK in the vid with the damage thought he knew better than the spotter and paid the price. I even had to winch him out of a spot because he had a lead foot and did not listen to the spotter. It was funny, because after that, he became a good listener.
