I used to fly out to San Nick all the time when I was at Mugu. What do you do there?

I know where that is!

just past reyes creek campground, is the gene martial piedra blaca trail its a hiking trail, 19 miles long through the sespe wilderness. ive backpacked it twice this year, once alone and once with company. its a 2 night 3 day hike for me.

trailhead just past the campground

about 3.5 miles in first camp

another 1.5 miles up bear trap camp, i camped here alone it was great!

creek following the trail

dead bear

sketchy snow ice covered pass had to traverse

the trail eventually goes into a cedar forrest

the trail passes thru several other camps, and takes you out into the piedra blanca rock formations. its a difficult trail lots of ups and downs. I don't have pictures of the rest.

with my gear

no moon, only light at night was the fire

looking back in the direction to reyes creek camp

What do you have strapped to your leg? Bear mace, knife, or pistol? Great pics. I'll have to do that trail sometime. Love me some backwoods hiking

its a knife. i don't bring a gun, too heavey

i don't know about doing it in the summer, maybe from the reyes creek side. the other side when you decent out of the mountains to the piedra blancs, its really steep, hot, long and desert like, i would not attempt it. i went in may and was almost 90 or hotter, and the creek is only accessible in a few spots so if u don't have enough water you risk dehydration.

there is fishbowls loop up there tho i want to do. at fishbowls loop there is a rock formations and looks like a fishbowl, the stream drain into it, perfect for swimming, and fishing.

if your interested in going sometime let me know.
