Hopefully finish the trail sometime on Sun or Mon morning and head home.

Long as work and finances are doing good I'm in. This is one of my bucket list trails and I am not sure when the next opportunity will come along.

Does the timing and game plan sound about right?
Mark? You too? This could be a good run here.

Starting Friday, just after breakfast, which will be just after sunrise.

This run went from a few zero's to a bunch of hero's in a days time!!! AWESOME!!

My schedule is looking like tow up on the 22nd, preposition the truck, and find a motel or campsite and meet up the morning for the run.

Well, I got my vacation days approved, today. Friday the 23rd, and Monday the 25th. Heading up Thursday, after work. I am sooo stoked, and hope to meet up, at the Courtright campsite.

You guys should come.

Courtright campsite it is.

So hit the trail at what time friday? That way non campers or hotelers know when to be ready at trailhead. Also, what are opinions from people that have done it as to what schedule are we keeping? Wheel to ershim lake friday, camp and chill all saturday, finish trail sunday?

Russ that is a bummer for us not so much for you. You are going to like the Rubicon. I was looking at photos of the Dusy and some of them reminded me of the Rubicon. With that being said I am officially in on this run.

I did some online homework and it seems common for a 3 day trip leaving Courtright Reservoir Friday morning to camp at Thompson Lake 1st night Ershim Lake 2nd night and finish the trail on Sunday.

I personally would like to camp somewhere Sunday night and head home Monday morning.

Sorry that I haven't chimed in earlier on some of these posts. took the wifey to Vegas for 3 days.

Hi Don, I am going to take them up Thompson Hill to Thompson lake. This is the hardest part of the trail.

If you are going to stay in a motel!!!!!! The closest one is in Shaver 30 miles away. The trail head is 1 1/2 to 2 hours away from Shaver. Make reservations.

To get to the voyager (chicken) rock campground follow the signs to Courtright lake. When you get to the boat ramp, at Courtright lake, follow the road right/east around and go over the dam. The end of the road parking lot will be about a mile from the dam. About 50 yards before the parking lot on the left is the entrance. I usually go to the parking lot, air down, unhook the sway bar and have a beer.

1st day.......It will take all of 9 - 10 hours to get to Thompson lake.
2nd day.......Ershim or Mallard lake which ever one floats your boat.
3rd day........exit.

Here is a link for trail information.

Map of Dusy Ershim 4x4 Trail | EveryTrail

If you have any questions please ask.

PS.....FYI....You will be up in the high back country and it is subject to unexpected thunder showers....so bring a tarp for your equipment!!!!!!

Sinbob is it ok to gather or cut firewood on the trail? How much fuel is needed for a 4.0 to complete the trail under normal circumstances?

We'll have a chainsaw, like a camping staple. Always seem to find dead trees to steal from. Are there any fire restrictions and for those of you familiar, have you ever seen a ranger on the trail?
