First off I would like to apologise to csumjr aka Chuck.....now that man can do some wheeling!!!!! With a (except 2.5 lift) stock TJ and just a hilift jack, no winch he did Thopson hill!!!!!! Chuck is a real Jeeper
Rafi got to Voyager aka chicken rock camp ground around 5pm on Thursday....I followed at about an hour later.....Ron got there Friday morning at 7am. No sign of Chuck.
We left the campground and headed up Chicken rock, pics above.
It took us about 3 hours to get to Thompson hill of some moderate wheeling. I don't know about the others but, I didn't lockup at all until we got to the pre obstical for Thompson hill. rafi had Detroits front and rear.
Took us 2 hours to finish Thompson hill and make it to Thompson lake. we could probly have done it faster, but we were being careful. We walked the hill first looking at discussing which lines we would take. It is just so darn steep and long....maybe 1/2 mile or more.
Ron had no problems at all taking Thompson.
Rafi and I, because of our wheelbase had to stack rocks at one spot....both of us at the same spot.
Thompson lake is 10 miles from chicken rock....5 hours
See pics above
stopped at Thompson lake to eat lunch and try the fishing.
Rolled out of Thompson lake on the way to Ershim lake at 430pm.
nothing but rock gardens all the way.
Rolled into Ershim lake campground at 930pm.
12 miles.....5 hours
csumjr.......Chuck our missing jeeper rolled into our ershim camp around midnight - 1am....Chuck ran the whole route from chicken rock to ershim lake in 14 hours. His rig TJ only has a 2.5 lift, 32's, no winch, open diffs.
Chuck made it up Thompson by stacking rocks and using his hi lift jack.
His rig sustained a lot of rock damage.....it seems the rocks just loved his rig and tried every chance they could to give it a kiss here and there.
Chuck is the MAN and this JEEPER can wheel
Just as soon as Ron emails me the pics I will post them up on the carnage done to Chuck's jeep.
Ron and I rolled out of ershim at about noon. Hit the pavement at Kaiser at about 430 - 5 pm. Again lots of rock gardens.
8 miles.....5 hours
Ok, Ron and I did the Dusy in 15 hours because we had to get back.
We already have been talking about going again next year and taking a week to do it and really enjoy it.
Doing it as fast as we did really takes a toll on the old body....beat us up pretty good....I figure it will take me at least a week to get back to normal....well at least normal for me
Ron is a very avid fisherman....me not so much.....but we would both like to explore the many many lakes that dot the area there. Some are only a 15 - 30 min walk some a lot more.
