I'm in. Do you want to caravan up there? If so, where do you want to meet up and what time? I vaguely remember how to get to your house.

Yeah, that can work but even better would be something like the Costco parking lot off of Rosecrans, then I don't have to go South. Either one will work for me though, you pick it and give me a time.

They are great trails. You'll have a good time. I have only seen a winch come out once or twice on this trail and I am sure yomondo has no idea what I am talking about

I filled up at Jawbone last time I did the run and that gave me plenty of fuel to do the run and make it home afterwards. Jawbone is a little bit more expensive, but it lets you get away with only filling up twice. My rig averages about 13.5 MPG. I have heard rumors that Jawbone is not a sure thing for fuel though since it is a small time mom and pop shop so Mojave or the gas station just off of the California City Blvd exit are good places to plan on.

I'm excited to do this run! I have a friend coming along with me as a passenger. He is in the market for his own Jeep and every trip he comes along on drives a knife further through his heart.

I usually gas up in Mojave, and that's enough gas to run the trail and get me all the way back home. Mojave is 26 miles from the trailhead, along the 14, just before the highway veers off to the right.

BTW guys, I just noticed a posting on JK-Forum a group doing the same run, meeting at the same time and place. Just FYI.

if your coming up the 14, gas up in mpjave. since jk forums uses channel 16, lets use channel 10. its sunday and in the dessert so there will be no traffic.

Depending on which way your gps sends you, you may be coming up 395 rather than the 14. In this case, the closest gas to the trail head will be the Johannesburg/red mountain area...however gas is very expensive there...over 4 dollars a gallon. You would probably be better off stopping at 4 corners/Kramer junction for gas. But like beantown mentioned, if u come up the 14 u will want to stop in mojave

If you run out of Fullerton you are going to take the 5 north to the 14 and then run north to Mojave
The other choice is 15 north and cut across the 58 to Mojave I drive out to Palmdale quite a bit and from there down to Fullerton for work there is really no great way to go durning the week!

Does anyone have a two meter radio going on this run? I also suggest channel 13 channel as 10 tends to be used up there

Sorry guys, I'll have to make the next one. Conquering the V-Notch will have to wait just a little longer. My buddy who was going to be a passenger just bought an '07 Rubicon today and as embarrassing as it sounds... the previous owner had street tires on it. I promised my friend that I would take him out on some fire roads or something easy so he can get it dirty... somewhere that isn't an hour away from civilization! I know how exciting it is to get your new dream vehicle so I can't turn him down. Think of it as training a new member of our SoCal Jeeping crew.

Have fun and be safe out there!
