I think that would be a really tough swap. Just the smog requirements would be a mess. Then you have the transfer case and driveshafts. It would all be changed. Last would be getting all the fuel injection running. I wouldn't touch that job for any amount of money. Your looking at a tough one. Sorry.

Yes you can do this swap.....it has been done and is a very good swap. The 3.7 is not the same motor as the one in the Jk...it is a long lasting motor that can last well over 300,000 mi. It has great crawling abilities... the computer won't let it stall on the rocks....
For all the how to on this swap....look up Jeepyjliberty...you'll find him on Jeepforum.com....
He has done this swap to a 95 Yj...
Hope this helps...

Hey Steve is the smog stuff easy?? An O7 donor into a 94. It's been a while since i've done smog legal swaps. The chrysler injection stuff can be problematic. I know your the Bone yard champ here so I gotta bow to your knowledge base..

This is the part I was worried about. Both donor engine and recipient car must retain all their smog related and electrical computer controls. You may not degrade the smog controls of either part.

Bob...in this case the smog will follow engine because it newer then the vehicle.
luckily he has the whole donner car....he'll need to convert it from ODB1 to an ODB2 system
and need all the Liberty's smog equipment...

That's one of the nice things about living out here where I'm at....we don't have to put are cars on a dyno to smog them....its a flash back to the early 80s for us....just a sniff of the tail pipe and a gas cap test....your done...

Man not here. You got Referee stations who pick it all apart. I use to do engine swaps. Chevys and Fords into Jaguars.. We had to fight those guys tooth and nail. No slack whatsoever. I just thought it would be tough if he is doing it alone and does not seem to have the experience. But yeah if he can weld and pipe fit he might have a chance of getting it done on his own.
