Hermosa Beach Jeep Meet

Summer is upon us so lets get out to the beach and play some volley ball, swim in the ocean, surf, body board and soak up the rays.

There has been some talk of having a beach meet so i propose to have it in the south bay. the beaches are not over crowded here, but can be busy on a nice Saturday or Sunday. the area on the map in the green star is a less crowded are of the beach, away from the busy hermosa pier, but close enough to walk down to check it out.

Drinking is prohibited on the beach, but many times ive brought adult beverages and not had a problem. they don't hassle you mush here unlike places like Huntington beach. keep it mellow, don't act like a douche and avoid red or blue cups, maybe the yellow cups are better . and yomondo i would not go round telling everyone you are drunk lol

i have a long board and a short board if anyone wants to try to surf. there is a surf spot here, but unless there is a good swell it may not be that great.

there are a few option for parking. the green lines on the map are meter parking. the orange line on the map are no meter street parking. these spots would be best to get by noon, its not always full but is a good place to start. the blue star on the map is a huge paid parking lot and a short walk to the beach. the red star is where my apt is, and if you can bring a bicycle you can park here and ride down, which i will probably do.

for the dates, the only weekend i can do this is august 18th or 19th.

does anyone has some easy up tents, tables and stuff we can set it up on the beach and bring lots of food, coolers, and beverages. we can drop it all off early for the event.

Also maybe after we can have a bbq at my place or my g/f's place (yellow star on the map), staceys, which most of you know here. our apartments are small but may be fun.

As of now, count Sandi and I in. Sounds like fun. The 18th works best for me since I work Sundays.

Sweet! Thanks for setting this up, Brad. Sounds like it's going to be awesome! Unfortunately I'm going to be out of town that weekend, so I won't be able to participate, but I can already see how much fun this will be for y'all.

No...Scott Robinson was great! The people were very friendly! The issue was that they didn't have 4.10 gearing in an unlimited.

I vote the 18th or 25th. Pretty much any Saturday. Prefer not to do Sunday. How about 11:00 AM meet time?

We can do a pot luck if people are up for it. I can bring pretty much anything since my wife cooks and will probably be coming with.

For chairs, I figure bring your own. I have a bunch of folding chairs though not really 'beach' chairs. I also have a decent sized easy-up I can bring.

Sundays I think they have free concerts on PCH- a friend who lives there says the beach gets really crowded on Sundays. Beantown- that the case?
I am trying to re-arrange stuff so I can make Saturday. With so many places to eat on PCH- how about walking to a restaurant instead of pot-lucking it? People can still bring beverages/light snacks for the beach but with parking being random it might be a pain to bring a pop-up, cooler, chairs etc. Can you bring a grill onto the beach in Hermosa? Of course I have a mammoth cooler so maybe its just me. And I bring enough stuff for a small army.
: )

No grills on the beach.

yes Sunday evenings now are sunset concerts on the beach, they are right on the beach at hermosa pier, which is on the same beach but the other end where we are, look at the map - i didn't mark it but you can see the pier to the north at the end of pier avenue. it will be crowded down there, but not where we are. they start at 5 or 6pm till 8pm. they are pretty fun. any interest in going?

we could go out to eat after, lots of good choices near by

Hey sorry i have to do this but im not going to go to the beach meet, im sure you guys can do it without me.

Ive been planning on backpacking up in sequoia for months now this weekend leaving tomorow thursday and coming back monday. The forcast calls for chance of thunderstorms up there everyday so i don't think its a good idea, i wouldn't want to get caught in one, hoping for better weather next weekend. I only have this other weekend to get up there and ive been wanting to go all summer.

No worries, Brad. I was just told today that I have to help out with training a new hire. Lucky me.
