Actually, the bumper from hell looks pretty good - I'd run it. I would loose those loops and make it fit some real d-rings however, as from this picture they just don't look recovery safe.

If I had it to do over, I would have made it clevis style..
The knockers that are on it now, are more for holding down cargo containers during a hurricane..
They are not going to budge, but they do look a bit odd..
( UNIQUE ) LOL Oh well, they will do the trick, I haven't welded anything in 10 years, so I'm okay with the way it came out..
A little MUD, and they will look perfect.

Yeah! Your CB shipped, maybe you can get it in before the run?

If I get it before friday, it's going in... if I can figure it out.

Like the bumper by the way. It's too cool.

My new bikini top won't be here in time..
It's all good, I know we will have fun!

I'm planning on putting my Safari top on if I can find my header rail. Took it off last September and put it somewhere "safe" in the garage so I’d be able to find it when I needed it. I spent 4 hours on Sunday looking for it......

I was considering taking my doors off also, but I've heard rumors that the water crossings are running pretty deep right now...

Looks like it will be a beautiful day; I’m looking forward to it!

I was debating on running my mesh top. Think I will if it's going to that warm. Think I'll leave the doors on though... mine's still not paid for

I'm not sure where that campground is.

To get to Cougar Canyon: You go north on Di Giorgio road until it turns into a dirt road. You follow this for about 5 miles. It goes through three water crossings and then runs into the small rock garden that goes about .75 miles up a steep hill. this lets out in a large flat area. The road meanders around through sheep and coyote canyons but you have to go out the way you came in. I've hiked and driven through this area many times.

After we are done with that, maybe we'll head east on S22 and take the drive out to Font's point.

View from Font's point:

or maybe head further east and goto the Calcite mine. The road to the mine is a little tougher and the mine is pretty cool. I have a few books and maps of the area that i'll bring along, so we can kinda play it by ear.

As I recall, I told you that you should lift it some time ago. And yes, I believe you are the one and only WF girl in this part of the country.

Here's another long video of the run..

SORRY! The lift fairy is not coming.
I have been waiting for that to happen for some time..
The kit is still sitting in the garage.

I have the rims all polished up waiting for the tire fairy, that will be along right after the lift fairy does his thing..

Looks like a fun day.
I'll bring along a couple of cameras, and a DVD video cam.

I was thinking the week was flying by..
Getting all the stuff ready for the weekend, and going froadin Friday for a couple of hours just to make sure, the damn thing is sea worthy.
I hate to get to the middle of BFE, and find out she won't float.

Don't say that. I don't even know where the drain is on my tub..... and I was under the impression that none of us had boating permits for our beasts.

Come on now, the water isn't that deep! You'll both be fine. We'll talk a little about water crossing techniques if the need arises.

LOL!
I was going to get a winch, but I'm thinking one of these might come in handy....

Splish Splash, I was takin a bath! LOL!

http://www.off-road.com/toyota/tech/water_crossing/
The link above is for DEEP water crossing, but has a few tips..
That may keep some water out of your diffs.

If you go fast enough, you won't even get wet..like when it's pouring down rain, and you run to your car

Okay, I just pulled up 1/2 on the sidewalk, and looked...My diffs are vented very High..If I go deep enough to get water in those hoses, the engine will die, and I'll get to try out the tow strap..
Another adventure..
Don't worry Terror, this trip is going to be a fun one.
Slow, and bumpy, but fun..

You guys gotta understand.... this is what I would consider my first real trip. The only place I've been is Palomar and the trails behind my house. Both what I would call dirt roads..... and I've only got a year of payments under my belt on my beastie.
