Since I have never been to Hollister, and have always wanted to check the park out, I thought it would be time to check the place out before it gets too hot and dusty, so let’s get the gang together for a caravan and trail ride to Hollister OHV Park.
It’s a 4 ½ hour drive for us, so I thought an 11AM meet up at the park would be good. Those who want to have meet ups along the way can post details here. I hear there is a picnic area for a possible lunch get-together. We could follow that up with some trail exploring. I will not be able to scout out the place due to the distance, so I am hoping that those who have been there can provide some information , plus help out as trail guides for those of us not familiar with the park. Is there a trail map? Are the trails labeled for difficulty? We could do groups depending on difficulty, or just all follow a leader and tackle the trails. Please feel free to post your suggestions for this run.
You can add me to the list. Is the park reserved or can anyone still come in the park? I have a friend that wants to come along in his razor and record us with the go pro if thats ok with you guys.
The park is open to the public, all are welcome. I suppose he can record us, lol... Out of the usual guys that we jeep with we usually have 3-4 cameras, mostly GoPros and then my contour.
some of us are just slower at uploading their videos then others... I'm not naming names though.
lol, no worries. Just be warned: they come in packs of two. I ordered four, thinking they were individual, so now I need to find a use for the other two pairs.
Thanks. Yeah it's hard to drive 50 mi for an $8 part. I try to wait till I have enough stuff to order to make that trip. One more week and we will be there.
Yes Sir, that is true but for me it's 7 and a wake up!! I'm pretty excited to see 30 something jeeps hanging out. Imagine taking a group like this to Moab or the Rubicon, Caravanning all the way there!!! Crazy!!
is it time to go yet??? one more week!!! it's going to be a busy week though. 12:30 tee time on Sunday, Monday going to try and do OBA with the $25 smitty compressor from amazon, Tuesday is drop down tailgate day, Wednesday is fluids and general upkeep day (gotta make sure I'm all set), Thursday is pack and figure out all my camping supplies and stock up on beer, then it's Friday!!!
Well, with one week to go is everyone good on when and where? The weather report looks favorable! Possible rain in the area Wednesday and clear for the weekend. Could help on keeping the dust down! Myself and the north bay group will be caravaning down with a final meetup in San Jose at a Chevron off Coleman Ave. For those going Satuday morning and heading south/west, you could meet up with us there for a final sprint to Hollister. We should be arriving at the Chevron about 9AM.
unk:
Looks like I won't be making it with the jeep. I broke the front ARB locker sunday. Waiting on parts to put her back together...still might come out and what you guys play tho.
Haha...I broke the bolts that hold the ARB locker together...ARB is sending me new bolts free of charge...plus I need to change my axle seals anyway...no point in storing water in your front axle unless you plan on using the extra weight from keeping yourself from flipping backwards.
I have the older design for a dana 30...me & the ARB tech think the previous owner did not use red lock tight when it was put together. The bolts back themselves out and sheared one of them off.
The new design does not use bolts ( 2007 & newer )
