I honestly wouldn't even bother with that. I have Jeeps come in with those all the time and every time I'm able to jimmy it open without using the key.

Every little deterrent helps. Criminals go for the easiest less protected things before they spend the extra time on things that are protected.

I have a kill switch, alarm and plan on a hood lock and brake club. Trust me, the thief will go for the rig that doesn't have all that before they go for one that does. Too much time involved getting through all of it...even if it can be bypassed, it takes too much time.

I guess I just look at it like if a thief wants something he's going to take it. I'd rather them be able to take something small rather than take the entire thing just to rip that small thing out later, but that's just me thinking that all criminals are smart and know how to hot wire a vehicle lol.

Here are the installation instructions-

I know it's a traditional thing for Jeeps to not have hood locks. I still don't understand it though. Don't all other vehicles that were made in the last 20 years have a hood lock?

What is that? It looks like a key lock that comes thru the grill? Or is it a traditional cable lock from the cab?

You don't really need that, if they want the jeep they will just cut the top or take the doors off. It doesn't cost that much to increase your insurance to cover replacement cost.

Besides, I am pretty good shot...

It is very easy to put on. Just remove the grill and it lines up with 4 hole in the support. Install rivets and its done. Just make sure to key it before you install it. Sometimes they don't key up.
