Way to simple.....I drive an XJ and my name is Phil. When I first showed up at the forum, I didn't know if they would allow Cherokee types to participate. I have made a lot of new friends since those days and I believe most of them would agree, I love wheelin (any time & any place).
When I was a kid my Mom took me to my uncle's body shop for the first time. One of my uncle's friends who was working with him at the time had just came out of the pinta (prison) and he had pretty much his whole upper body covered in tattoos. He's a bit intimidating to say the least, especially to a 7 year old, but he came right up to me smiling, stretched out his hand as my uncle was introducing me to him. My uncle told him "This is my nephew Fernando" and his friend pretty much yelled out "what's up Fern Dawg!" And it stuck from there...got away from it for a while but all my old friends still call me that...and hey...we're all friends here right?
I do what I do and the reasons are my own, F who likes it, F who don't...
Can't complain (or shouldn't anyhow). How bout yerself? We have 3 on board (and a maybe) for a Wednesday, Calico run two days after Labor Day (2 weeks from today). Are you able to do mid-week get-a-ways?
Yeah mid-week get always are close to impossible for me unless I plan way ahead of time. Calico should be great, have fun.
Last time I was there was a group of 18 or 19. Two of them were completely stock (Isuzu Trooper and a Rodeo, both on something less than 30" tires, no lift, and never been further from home than the grocery store) and another guy in a stock Jeep who had never wheeled before either. We spent real close to 6 hours going less than 3 miles. Drive a ˝ a mile, stop and chat about it for 45 minutes. What a disaster. So far we have 3 confirmed and 1 hopes to be there. We should be able to do Odessa and Dorain Loops in maybe four hours, baring any serious breakdowns. Wish you could be there. Maybe we can put together another Mottino Wash run soon. I liked that place.
People always ask me if I'm an electrician. ...... Far from it!
In the early 90's (That was yesterday right?) I was helping a friend put up some xmas lights ( C-9's). I didn't see that live wire sticking out when I grabbed it. ZAP!!!! I think I may have lost a few years of my life from that event. Any who.... That same night I told my friend (same friend I helped put up the lights) that I would help him with his junior high youth group. When he introduced me to the kids he called me Electric Jay. So that's what the kids called me. The name stuck.
I was going to use D GERTIE for my screen name. I call my Jeep Gertie. But like some of you have done, I used the same name(electricjay) in different forums.

Many years back I used to be a General Contractor and I hired my down and out next door neighbor as a laborer. Billy, when younger was heavy into the Ventura area gangs and had all the jail tattoos to prove it. Billy and I became very good friends and as friends do, they start to call each other nick names. I use my middle name (Randy) with my friends because my first name is mostly only used by my mother or a government official when I’m in trouble. I guess “dog” is respectful title in jail so Billy stared in calling me Randog. I even had T shirts made up when I was in business with the avatar you see on line. I still use that logo to this day on my cards for my side business.
License to kill gophers by the government of the United Nations. Man, free to kill gophers at will. To kill, you must know your enemy, and in this case my enemy is a varmint. And a varmint will never quit - ever. They're like the Viet Cong - Varmint Cong. So you have to fall back on superior intelligence and superior firepower. And that's all she wrote.
While in the Marine Corps doing mountain warfare training I fell 50 feet into a river in February..... needless to say it was cold. I got hypothermia. When I rejoined the platoon my best friend said "hey Chillys back"... lol and it just stuck from there. The 03 is the year of my Jeep.
