This is a long drive for a day trip but I would like to know what time you plan on being done wheeling for the day on Saturday. I have never been up there in the Jeep before, only on the KTM so I may like to check it out. Just a thought.

Here's the deal with this..we're doing 2 more trails besides Lockwood/Miller. If I recall, the last time I did this, I had around 20 rigs. After doing the first trail, we got to the trailhead of Lockwood around 1130-1200. From there, we're doing an offshoot trail after Yellow Jacket. That adds a couple more hours. From there, we hit Lockwood and onto Miller. Realistically, you're looking at maybe around 6-7pm. It's a full day...just the way I like it. Once at the top of Miller, it's 45 minutes down the mountain and into HV.

Count me in! Been looking to do this trail. I will be there for Saturday's runs, not camping.

See you at the flying J!

Either way Parker If you're coming in the AM, please make sure you get there early enough to do what you need to do. I'll be leaving camp in the park by NLT 0820 or so..depending on how many need gas before we hit the trails. We have a full day. Everyone needs to have around 3/4 tank.

ATTENTION EVERYBODY!

I'm getting conflicting reports. I was told by a member of the club that runs Miller to open it that they were running it the week before we are. The Rangers want it open May 1st as well. Rangers I spoke to said unless something drastic happened, it'd be open for the 10th. Now I'm hearing the club isn't running it until our weekend. That means it won't be open for us. I'm going to call again Monday and inquire.

If this is true..we have 2 choices for the rigs that are on this run:: stay in HV and run the park and obstacle course or go to Cougar Buttes. There's bypasses for stuff you don't wan't to do and I have no problem staying on the easier stuff as well.

This is a bit frustrating since I made several calls before posting this run..but hey, what can ya do?? We can still wheel !

What's everyone's thoughts if we can't run Miller as planned? CB or HV?

Couldn't the run go the following weekend instead? Cougar Buttes would knock me out of play due to the time. I'll show up at HV if you guys decide to do that, but I'd really prefer to do Miller a week later if that is an option?

I'll be Australia the following weekend.

I'm totally down for staying in HV. I have no problem tooling around easy stuff. 95% of the time, I'm doing the harder stuff..I'm honestly happy just being in my Jeep. It'll give us more camp/face time which is always a blast! You have no idea unless you've been...others will vouch for that I'm sure LOL

Well, I've never run with you, but yeah, that is often true. And based on your blog... Yeah, its probably true

I've never been over to Cougar Buttes, Lucern is a bit of a drive for me to do a day run... What are the trails out there? Could a no-locker 2.5 inch, regeared JK on 35's keep up? Photos I find easily online say its probably a little dicey for me, but, I thought Last Chance Canyon in Red Rock was going to be a bitch and... Well, it was, but no dents...

I guess I'd rather do Australia, but getting Jocelyn over there seems a little over my head financially

Believe or not, I am not the craziest one in this group. I do get the distance thing for a day run. I myself, would not want to day run CB. It's 3-3.5 hours one way. CB is fine for all rigs. There's bypasses. My last run was CB. I had completely unlifted stock rigs on 31's. You can pick your poison out there. I was shooting a couple videos for TV, and while I was doing that, my crew was tooling around nearby..it's all good out there...but again, far.

When I get to Australia, I'll have my pick of rigs to drive. You can check out what exactly is going on if you go to my FB page IH8RDS.

Ok, well, I'm a little closer to CB than you, so the drive isn't quite as painful... And if there are ways for me to have a good time, then I'm good with either destination, so we'll see what the others say.

If I wasn't knee deep in fixing up this house to sell I'd camp it. But damn there is a lot to do around here. Of course, if I am out all day on Saturday, I'm probably not getting squat done Sunday on the house anyhow... Maybe I camp.. Jeez...

You all decide, and then I'll figure out how to tell the wife I'm useless that weekend.. I'll probably show up either way.

You got that right..ya'll cry about the distance until I tell you how far I am.

Freakin hilarious!

and so true!

Just through texting a few friends on the list...THE CRAZY ONES , it looks like everyone is fine with HV....just need people to post up...for tracking...see where we're at. I'll have a Mod change the title.

The damn club and Rangers can change their minds, but they can't change the amount of fun we'll have; Regardless of where we're at.

That's why I asked, info I had from the club was it was going to be ran the weekend your trip is planned, weather permitting. Goal is to get it opened by memorial day,so club is still ahead of schedule.

I obviously wouldn't have posted unless I was told differently. There's obviously a disconnect at the Ranger station and club............not to mention, I spoke to one of the club organizers personally and he told me they were running it the first weekend.

I was also told, they wanted it open by May 1st, and not the end of the month.

No big deal. We have a great group. We will still have a blast.

Terrible to find this out..

I will start laying the seed of a camp trip with the wife, rather than a day trip, so that I can also partake in the 'other' miller.. And so she'll understand why I didn't come home...

She's cool, its just that she doesn't like offroad simply to be offroad... She completely digs trips that get us somewhere beautiful... But just to go climb a thing, then drive back down it, she doesn't like that.

Laurel Lakes Trail -- She's all over that trip..
