January 2014 in Ocotillo Wells/Borrego Springs Run

Fred1 and I want to get a big group out to the Borrego Area in January to get together and Jeep and have some fun in the winter weather. I will be out there pretty frequently during winter break from school.

The Borrego area has wheeling for all stock, lifted, and wild Jeeps. After exploring this area for about four years now I have found the perfect area for holding a run like this. The recently opened Truckhaven area on the North side of the S22 is where we would like to take a group of Jeeps.

The Weekend is Set!:
January 10th (Friday) - 12th (Sunday)

***Please also state if you are interested in a Friday run.

Just realized from looking at your pics that I haven't seen Gary around in awhile. I believe he was there last year at your run on Thanksgiving weekend....

And yes Dan is correct, Grant and Dakota put on a great run....

I vote 10th - 12th.

1/3 is too close to new years and the last week is my wife's birthday.

I might be interested in the weekend of the 10th-12th. I normally take off a week between xmas and new years and then the San Diego 4 wheelers Superstation Mountain run is normally towards the end of January. Got to see how much vacation time I left on the books.

Like Kota7x said, Truckhaven is a bitchen area to wheel in and the weather at the beginning of the year is equally as bitchen.

Glad to see so much interest in this... I thought the 3rd-5th was a little close to XMAS/New Years but I included it just incase the majority wanted it.

Count me in. Sounds like a fun trip. I really haven't got to explore the truck heaven area, only the south side of ocotillo. I can work with any of the dates.

Yeah, never heard of that one Steve. Sounds like fun because I've never done anything out in that direction, including ocotillo.

What are you doing this weekend Steve?

Rick you need to check both of these areas out...lots of fun to be had for sure...
For me this weekend.... do to all of the flooding rains we've had this past week I'll be spending a lot of time on the tractor my road to my property is knee deep in mud, dirt and rocks. Other then that my boys and I will be doing a lot of motorcycle riding!

Yeah, I've been wanting to do some runs in the area but always end up not going because of gas money, etc.

Good luck with the cleaning, etc. At least the motorcycle part sounds fun.

Yeah Rick,

I went to the Superstition Mountain run for the first time last year. Great run, fun trails and the Blue Angels fly over our heads all weekend long! its dry camping and I took my motor home. Although I don't remember seeing any toilets or water out there, the weather was great. On the why out on the dirt road there is a private gun club, we stopped and shot our guns all afternoon before hitting the road back. Excellent weekend.

I'm heading to Borrego for 2 days of trails with friends late oct. We are driving down from Bay Area - any advise on trials - where's that natural bridge you parked under? Looking for moderate stuff.

I have 33's and a 3 inch lift but no body armor or rockers (yet)

Thanks!!

Sonoma Girl, The Borrego Days Parade is 10/26. Small town parade, lots of fun. All the wheeling you want close by. The arch is a 20 minute drive from Borrego Spring in the the Truckhaven area.

That sounds like a fun trip. I've been wanting to do a shooting/wheeling weekend. I figure Calico would also be a good place to do so when the weather cools down a bit.

I have a friend that likes to shoot more than wheel, but keeps saying he'll go if there's shooting.
