Jeep clubs??

Hey everyone! So I've heard Of motorcycle clubs but is there such a thing as a jeep club? And if there is does anyone know if there are any In Ventura county? I guess I'm just looking to make friends with and meet up with other people who have jeeps and enjoy going out on trails. Ive had my jeep for several years but I've never gone off roading but I'm dying to try it.

There are many of us who get together and go wheeling on weekends or sometimes just for a day. You can meet a lot of people right here on this forum. This is like one big happy Jeep club.

There are several local clubs in the Ventura County area. I myself run with Pt Mugu 4x4 Club. Our adopted trail is the LockWood Valley trail in Fraizer Park. We meet in Camarillo once a month. If you are interested in checking out the club you can come to a meeting or we have a Yahoo Groups board we use to communicate.
There is also the Channel Islands 4x4 Club, Axlesnappers, etc.

I'm actually heading to Palm Springs on Friday. Relaxing in the sun next to the pool and going to see Metallica and Megadeth. Can't wait. But I can probably pull off next Friday

And I think I'd really be interested in attending one of your club meetings. What day and time do they take place?

Sweet! Keep an eye out for a YJ teal colored jeep. I haven't seen too many teal colored jeeps so I probably won't be hard to spot. Have you ever been to hungry valley?

I have been there MANY times. Do you have a CB radio in your Jeep? Makes trail communications easier, especially if you are new to wheeling.

Aw man no I don't have a cb radio, I guess I should invest in one huh. Is there a charge to get into the park? My jeep is pretty much stock and has road tires, is that fine?

$5 day use fee to get into park or you can buy an annual pass for $50 if I recall correctly. Stock is fine, we will just stay on the milder trails. My daughter boyfriends Jeep and my Jeep are pretty much stock, 30" tires & no lift, so you will fit right in. There is a thread here that is titled "Gorman 4-30", that is Hungry Valley so it would be a good thread to watch to join a local run.

I will post tonight as I may head up earlier in the day tomorrow than planned if I do not have to work at the shop. That way we can meet up and go up together.
Either way if not, the easiest way for you to get there is 126 east to I-5 North. Exit Smokey Bear road, make a left and go under the freeway then catch the dirt road right in front of you to the gate. Gate is about 3/4 mile in, pay fees if ranger is at post and proceed straight about 1.5-2 miles and you will see 4x training course on left. It is right after the first campground on your left.

Looks like an afternoon trip for me, I have to work at the shop. Hopefully it is slow and we close early.
I may end up just going on the 04-30 trip. That will give me time to put on my exhaust as well as fix my rear main seal leak.

Think I saw you on your way back around 3 pm near Fillmore? You have the square headlights right? I was heading up after work but took the my little $400 jalopy Nissan with the quad in the back. Sure was crowded up there yesterday but I got some ride time in. Stayed until 11 pm since I had some morning obligations here at the house. Happy Easter all!!

Hey yeah that probably was me haha. I bet my jeep looked pretty dirty huh? We had a good time up at hungry valley! although I'm glad we made if home because leaving there my check engine light came on (bummer)! I was riding through the water dips in the training area so I hope it the light just came on because something got wet. Either way it was a good trip!

Meeting this Tuesday at Round Table Pizza in Camarillo. Starts at 7 pm but show up early and mingle. Great chance to meet some local off-roaders and assist us in the fight to keep our lands open for recreation.
